Anybody know how the "Bangkok Volunteer Rescue Workers" work?

These are the people standing around various spots in Bangkok waiting for accidents.

If/when the scope a person and take them to the hospital or give some poor schmuck a band-aid, do they charge the victim? How do they earn money for the the maintenance of their vehicles etc?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Bangkok Volunteer Rescue Workers are a group of volunteers who assist in emergencies without charging victims for their services. They primarily rely on donations from the community, as well as contributions from local organizations and government support. The emphasis on charitable giving is rooted in Buddhist principles, which encourage donors to contribute to earn merit. Overall, the volunteers fund their operations, including vehicle maintenance, through various community-driven fundraising efforts.

The people I know are volunteers they fund the truck themselves and get paid nothing. They are volunteers in every sense of the word. I will ask him if others get paid but he already has a decent business so money would not be of interest.

Volunteer rescue, fire fighters, EMTs and Paramedics aren't unique to Thailand. I vollenteered for 2 different first aid squads when I was in college. Being an EMT and having work experience at 18 was great for my resume.

Volunteer rescue agencies generally rely on funding from different sources, either a town or municipality, non-profit fund, or community donations.

In Thailand, Thai people as Buddhist mostly are taught to give and donate to other so that person will receive merit after death. And also when they donate to these group of volunteer(as foundation). They can get benefit of double expense in accounting
