Is there a risk of being rejected by immigration if I return to Thailand after my STV visa expires?

Hello. Currently I have STV visa which I cannot extend anymore. Immigration told me to leave country. I am thinking of going to Singapore and coming back the same/other day with visa exemption via Phuket. My question is there a chance the immigration will reject me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat on an STV visa who cannot extend it considers a quick trip to Singapore to return to Thailand via Phuket. The discussion highlights risks of immigration rejection due to past COVID extensions, advising the preparation of necessary entry proofs including cash, onward travel, and accommodation. Opinions suggest obtaining a single-entry tourist visa beforehand to mitigate the chances of denial upon re-entry.

The real question about how easy or hard getting back into thailand will be is DID you take any covid extensions while you were here OR did you just do the 9 months on the STV and now are running out of time.

It's the taking covid extensions that throws people off the rails and gets them grilled at passport control comin' back in.

I would say where ever you're going BUY a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in that country BEFORE you wing your way back here. If you can fly into either Phuket or Chiang Mai (there are no confirmed reports of anyone being denied entry at those airports)

AND

When you come in make sure you have the "3-proofz"

proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH

proof of onward travel back to your home country within the number of days you'll be stamped in for

proof of lodging, where you're gonna stay after you get out of the test&go hotel

That's as prepared as you can be to get back in. BUT still be ready to be asked why you didn't go back to your country, what are you doing comin' back to thailand so fast, etc.

Good luck with it

So is having covid extension in your passport a bad idea? What if I leave the Thailand for a couple of weeks then come back? I was thinking I would do a covid extension after my visa extension.

dunno if having one covid extension in your passport is a bad ide or not, what I do know is it's definitely a bad idea to have covid extensions for the last in your passport for the last 14 months (Nov 1 2020 to Mar 2022 😛 )

1 month hotel booking

Bank statement for 3 months

40$ visa fee

Don’t think anyone can say for sure either way.

However to mitigate the chances of being refused entry ensure you have the 3 requirements that they could stop you for.

Have 20,000 baht (or equivalent) in CASH on you. Bank statements or a phone app will not suffice.

Have a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days.

Have booked accommodation (after your test and go hotel) for a few days. It doesn’t have to be for the full duration of your stay.
