@Ulf ********
primarily I want it because I travel to the USA every couple of months for a project and I've been bombarded by rumormongering that "Thailand is cracking down" and I'll get turned away at the border when returning. Mostly I think this only happens to gross abusers- except I had a immigration lady yell at me in the airport once- this was crazy- she clearly didn't want to let me on, called a supervisor, he said it was fine so she stamped me and then yelled "next time don't stay so long!" It was bonkers.

Anyway, so I now know there are some crackpots in positions of power and so I want some protection against that sort of thing.

@Phil *****
well that is absolutely not the case and the common repeating of that just wasted 2 months for me. You need 14 days left, but you can apply for the marriage visa the day you arrive if you want.

Paul De Graaf I like that they give themselves cover by saying "other items" at the end

so my thinking with the meat is this might all be a commercial vs private use thing. It sounds like they are talking about not brining bulk items vs "I want to show my family what American steak is like"

@Faye ********
thank you Faye, that reads A LOT like they are talking about van loads of pig parts from Laos. Another thing I saw had said you can't even bring something with meat as an ingredient (listed Marmite as the example) but you can straight up order canned meat online for sure.

I am going to keep sniffing around and will report back.

you a vegetarian Brandon? Trying to thwart my steak plans? :) joking.

But I don't see anything about meat/beef on the customs site- but we all know I am horrible at...learning/reading.

So the update on this... My Thai lawyer, irritatingly, did not write back- it's as though he has other things to do on the weekend... But I went down to the police station to get some perspective too. If they wind up officially involved I suspect they will try to arbitrate some kind of cost split to keep the peace, but OFFICIALLY roads are for cars not dogs. Potential Gray area in that it's an easement, not a public road- but the law specifies public or private road (technically an easement isn't either one, but I'm confident it is covered).

I plan to offer him a small something mostly to assuage my own guilt- I am sad that there is sadness- but I suspect the conversation is going to go off the rails as A) he is very upset and B) sort of telegraphed he is a bit skeezy... As time goes on I am more and more angry that I now have this emotional burden because he is a shitty dog owner. I'm a sensitive guy. Shrug. My plan is to avoid the whole concept of him being a knucklehead unless he escalates. Wish me luck I guess
