I've heard people reference something you can buy instead of an exit ticket when you come into Thailand. Could someone explain what that is? Something like a "travel on pass"?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An onward travel ticket, often referred to in discussions about entering Thailand, serves as proof that travelers plan to leave the country within their visa or entry rules. It can sometimes be bypassed depending on the airline and individual circumstances. Options for booking these include online services that provide temporary 'tickets' or actual train tickets to neighboring countries like Malaysia for a low price. Travelers have shared mixed experiences with enforcement, indicating it can vary by airline or even by individual airline agents.

I just travelled from USA to Thailand without any ticket to leave Thailand.
Airline agent asked me 2 questions:
1) Do I have a Visa? Answer No, i get 45day Visa exempt.
2) where is your ticket out of Thailand? Answer, i don't have because I will go to neighboring country Cambodia by land.
I have been denied boarding before without having onward ticket. And all those times were by Chinese or others Asian airlines and/or traveling between SEA countries.

Best Onward Ticket. Its an actual real ticket valid for 24hrs or a week and they cancel after. U can check the airline site and see the booking. Used a few times as back up, never been asked mind u!

Online "tickets" (fake) for about 600bht to another destination usually KL
no. It's an actual plane ticket. The agency just books a fully refundable ticket and then cancels it after the agreed upon time in their terms. Each site is different and some let you extend it for a charge.
