What are the rules for bringing cordless tools and batteries on a flight to Thailand?

This is a bit dumb, sorry. I understand the rules- I think, but I find them counter intuitive and so I am uncomfortable. I am going to start bringing some of my cordless tools back. Do people really put the tools in a check bag and then just bring a handful of batteries in their carry on??

Is there a limit on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers can bring cordless tools in checked baggage, but batteries must be carried in the cabin. The maximum value of items allowed is generally around 80,000 baht, but this can vary by airline. It's advisable to check specific airline regulations regarding battery size and quantity, as lithium batteries above certain sizes are prohibited in checked luggage. Some users suggest considering purchasing tools in Thailand due to the availability of affordable options.

I've bought power tools over, battery in hand carry but the size of the battery depends on Airline.

I happen to own a lot of Ryobi tools in the USA, and put one in my suitcase every trip. I also grab a bunch of lithium batteries for my carry-on.

In Sattahip we have the 700 Rai market. There are always literally thousands of second hand power tools available there.

Sounds good but the high quality tools at places like Home Pro are so low price that for me I just bought what I wanted in Thailand.

I have to ask why bother ! I concede it's an expense however in my research to relocate I looked at this also but found so many tools at "home pro" relatively cheap !! So why bother with the hassles 🤔

Yes, the batteries must be carried. For limits, check your chosen airline’s website, as most have very clear rules.

I did last year. Drill in checked baggage, battery in carry on.

OK in Oz. Was asked a lot of questions prior to domestic flight. Take a photo of the drill and battery for easy explanation...
