Okay your outstamp date is day 17. Do YOU (looking for what people actually do for themselves) go on day 16 or 17 for your extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the timing of applying for a visa extension in Thailand, particularly when the outstamp date is day 17. One commenter advises against waiting until the last minute, suggesting that they plan ahead by scheduling their visit based on availability, ideally selecting a day with appointments open. Another comment hints at the type of visa supposed to be under discussion, which could influence the extension strategy.

ok. Curious, so I looked back at your posts over the past year and you'd asked about all sorts of entry/stay options.

I often ask questions for other people too. Came on an Ed visa. Been with the same girl since shortly after j got here. Shrug.

it looks odd when you ask as if it's for yourself and there's so many. ๐Ÿคท

I don't ask as if it's for myself, it's just easy to assume that.

Neither. Waiting until the last minute is crazy. I look at my schedule for the 30 days before the date and find a good day in my schedule, bonus points if there are appointments available on that day so I make an appointment.

Maybe I am confused. Are your extensions being added to your stamp date or from the day you go in? Maybe my entire approach is based on a misunderstanding.
Brandon ************
@Jack ***************
depends on the extension. If you're changing the reason for the extension (for example on a tourist entry but applying for visiting Thai family extension) then it will usually start from the day of application. But if the extension is for the same reason as the visa (tourist extension on a tourist entry) then the days are added to the end. You didn't give any details in your question.

fair enough I didn't know what I didn't know.

So in this case I am talking about extending a 30 day on arrival. My passport is from ye Olde USA

@Jack ***************
if you're just applying for the 30 day tourist extension then it will be added to the end regardless of when you apply

is it a tourist extension when it's not a tourist visa? Since we are picking nits I want to be clear.

@Jack ***************
A visa exempt 30 day stamp is a tourist entry, but not a tourist visa. It's valid for a single 30 day tourist extension.
