Why do some people criticize others for asking repetitive questions in a Thailand expat group?

ORIGINAL POSTER
People need to be given an IQ test before being allowed to ask questions in the group, the amount of stupid repative questions is getting ridiculous, but dose give me pleasure answering their stupid question with a stupid answer lol

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the frustration of a group member regarding repetitive questions asked by newcomers in a Facebook expat group focused on Thailand visa advice. While the original poster (OP) suggests implementing measures like IQ tests to filter questions, many commenters argue that there are no stupid questions and emphasize that newcomers often have genuine queries. The conversation highlights the tensions between experienced members who desire a higher quality of discourse and new members seeking information, ultimately illustrating the challenges of maintaining a supportive community.

What about giving people a grammar test or spelling test?

My favorite question is the people asking if they’re gonna get banned from Thailand like we know their individual situation and history and everything.

I mean, how are we supposed to know and it’s usually these people that leave the least amount of detail

But what keeps them going? Is that people keep starting to answer them sarcastically and then it just kinda goes on and on and on

You are assuming that the people asking questions have been following the board for years. This is not the case. Typically it is someone who just recently discovered Thailand and wants to learn more. Some questions are from drunk expats, no question, but most are asked sincerely and they’re hoping that those of us with extended experience can help. If that’s not you, maybe you should go elsewhere.

If the questions have become stupid and repetitive to you, I'm assuming you learnt the answers a while ago, some people are new to Thailand, and obviously don't know the answers, the same as you didn't, when or just before you first arrived, so understand everyone needs to learn.

People join the group to gain answers related to what the group is for. Nobody searches previous posts in groups. Plus the search function is rubbish. They want direct response to their own posts. Not so hard to understand. Don't stay in the group if you can't handle the repetative posts from new group members, oh mighty one who can't write properly.

The text in your post with all the misspelling suggests English isn’t your first language, but that’s perfectly fine too. We don’t berate people for that. We answer people who have genuine questions about travel to Thailand and visa requirements.

If you know the answers then please advise. If you’re pissed off that the same type of question is asked everyday then just scroll on.

There are no stupid questions. There are questions that are asked repeatedly, but that’s because the Facebook search option isn’t intuitive for many.

If someone doesn’t know an answer they can ask here. If it’s a repetitive one then scroll on by. Someone will answer.

as a teacher I agree 100%.

Sometimes what sounds like the dumbest question is the best question....it's the question the smart ass is to scared to ask.

On tge other hand I never recommend hotels etc because I know what I like but tgat dies not mean it's right for someone else.

I find it easier to take an afternoon off and visit hotels, inspect ta room and take a few pics.
