It was/is my understanding that the Ed Visa does not allow in/out privileges. But I am being told you can do day trips to Laos. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Ed Visa typically does not permit day trips; however, holders can apply for a re-entry permit, either single or multiple entry, to leave and return without affecting their visa status. A re-entry permit is crucial to maintaining the visa's allowed stay period.

You just need a re-entry permit to keep your visa or extention of stay alive.

Anyone with a single entry visa can buy a reentry permit at the airport to leave and come back in without affecting their visa.

Not a 💯 sure. But I spoke with a lawyer 2 days ago, and he mentioned that with this type or any other u can apply in the airport for a multi entry option that cost around 3800 Bath. Please don’t take my words as facts. But that maybe can help u to get the correct answer. 🙏

An ED visa or extension does not allow for day trips. If you have a re-entry permit (single or multiple) you could leave and come back and that would keep your “allowed to stay” date alive. Currently you’d need a ThailandPass to reenter.
