So with the 400k for marriage visa... After they give you the visa do they just not care anymore or do you need to show it at each renewal?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After receiving a marriage visa in Thailand, you are not required to keep the 400,000 THB in your account. However, you must show that amount was in your account for at least two full months prior to applying for a renewal. It is also noted that transferring a minimum of 40,000 THB into your account monthly may be an alternative to maintaining the full amount.

Yes you will need to show it in your bank account 2 months prior to every extension.
Paul *******
Unfortunately, it needs to be shown at every renewal unless you get 40K sent to your account every month.

A good question and, as usual, two idiots laughing

What I've read us you must have the 400k back in your thai bank 2 months prior to renewing the yearly visa

Start to send minimun 40.000 bath for the next 12 month from outside thailand to your bank account in thailand and dont think to move 400.000 next year!

There is no requirement to keep the money in your account after you receive the extension. But leave the money in your account during the under consideration period between the application and when you get the actual visa.

For the next extension you'll need to show you had 400,000 in an account 2 full months before you apply, not before your extension ends.

bank statement and updated bank book.

@Jack ***************
more like 3, because of the under consideration period.

2 months before you apply, then about 1 month under consideration after you apply.

@Brandon ***********
after applying, why the need to keep the money there 1 month when under consideration !
Brandon ************
Because you don't have the full extension yet and they can ask for proof of funds again when you go in to collect the visa. Better safe than sorry.

and I'd you go the 40k a month that has to be shown as income through my embassy not just transfers into my bank? If you are expected to have income does that mean you are allowed to work?

@Jack ***************
if you are American they no longer do the income Affadavit.

so they only require the bank statement?

you can use transfers to your bank account, you just can't use that method for the first 1 year extension from the initial 90 day non-O visa.

If you have a job inside of Thailand you can just use proof of your salary I believe. I'm not sure on that though.

If you're on an extension based on marriage, that is not a work restricted visa. You still have to get a work permit before from your productive company before working though.

if ones embassy provides income affidavit I believe you have to use that option and can't use banked money
