I will be due for my extension on the 12th and it looks like I might be in BKK/Pattaya area. It doesn't matter what office I go to right? I came visa exempt. Is there an office that is smoothest I should aim for?

It all depends on where your last TM30 was filed listing where you are staying. That filing determines which office you use. You can't just go where you want.
