Can I change my flight to an earlier one during a layover in Bangkok?

Hey long time travellers... Sorry if this is a dumb question, but Asia is weird sometimes.

I've got a long layover coming up in bkk. It is just from my arrival until my commuter flight home to the north. In the states I know I can just go to the counter and ask for a seat on an earlier flight (these are seldom full). Does that concept exist in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses whether passengers can change to an earlier flight during a layover in Bangkok. Responses indicate that the ability to change flights depends largely on the ticket class, with some tickets allowing changes for free and others imposing fees or prohibiting changes altogether. Travelers are advised to check for available seats upon arrival at the airport and to approach the transfer desk if their luggage is already checked through. Some respondents shared personal experiences of successfully changing their flights.

Had a bad stomach for 10days I couldn’t get rid of , went straight to airport asked for an early flight home , paid £100 admin ? , on the flight home within the hour

I'd head straight to the transfer desk if the ticket is all airside and luggage is checked through.

As Brandon has already advised, whether you can make changes/cancel and, if so, the charges (if applicable) involved depend upon your ticket class. I’m now reluctant to book onward flights in advance of arrival because my last two international arrivals at Suvarnabhumi were delayed by 24 hours.

Depends on the ticket you hold. Some have no fee for change, and some have fee for change, and some do not allow change at all.

I have done it several times in the past. Good luck 🤞

I’ve never done this at Bkk but why not ask when you arrive. I’m

Sure you’ve already googled to see if there are any flights with open seats. If so - go ask
