I don't remember if I posted this here or a different group, but the answers were useless so trying again.

Looking for referral to legit reliable Thai life insurance company. The lack of consumer protection here and my general experience with commerce has my exceedingly wary of if my people would actually get a check.

What company are you using and why?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat is seeking recommendations for reliable life insurance companies in Thailand, expressing concerns about consumer protection and the reliability of payouts. Comments include suggestions to use Bangkok Bank for insurance, considering policies from one's home country, and discussing the pros and cons of Thai life insurance companies.

Thai Life are straight players but I'm not sure what would be the value of Life Assurance.

I looked at life policies and couldn't understand why you'd bother. The older you are the less lump sum pay out you'll get on a fixed term and the premiums will be weighted. Whole of life you need to start very young to get a good lump sum but inflation will eat into it big time over your life time even if you can get one these days... Maybe higher intetest savings accounts are a better option?

If you have life insurance in your home country they’ll pay when you die why would you buy from a Thai company

If you have doubts about the options available in Thailand, I would suggest looking in to life insurance out of your home country. I don't want to assume, but if you are American, and your wife is your wife on paper (not a village marriage, but with a certificate from the amphur), you can make arrangements to make her a payee. You could probably make arrangements for a foreign payee without all of that, but you have to check with the insurance company.

yes they force people to buy insurance to get accounts at some branches. But that doesn't mean it's not real insurance.

Actually when I was at my BB branch a few weeks back getting my 12 months statements, they showed me a very interesting insurance product which I might take up.
