Is bidding for airline upgrades worth it?
Just got an email from Eva air offering to let me bid on an upgrade to first class. I thought, well heck, let's offer a couple bucks and maybe I get lucky... I go to the page and you adjust a slider bar to set the amount you want to bid and it has a little peer pressure guide that tells you "how strong" your bid is... The LOWEST offer you could set... Was as much as the first class ticket would cost to just buy.

Same. Got email to bid for 3 Prem Eco seats for the family. That slider bar rates the offer. It was looking at 3k USD as a fair rating. I would have picked Prem Eco seats at that price right from onset when I booked a few months ago! Sigh!!

Very happy I upgraded for our long part of the journey with EVA. Super comfortable and much different flying experience for me.

Two years ago, I flew Bangkok to Doha on Qatar and Doha to New York on American. I was offered an upgrade to business class from Doha to NY for USD 750. I took it because I was recovering from a health issue.
The seat was great but the food was miserable and I don't drink. Not sure if I would do it again.

I got really fat for a while and was doing pretty well and started flying first class domestic. It's not too much more expensive so whatever. I came to Thailand during Covid and my round trip first class ticket was only 2k. It was actually amazing and due to delays I was stuck in Qatar for like 20 hours and had the first class lounge. Everything about it was amazing. I suspect I won't get to do the like again as my life is... Humbler now.

First of all eva don't have first class, secondly i was offered a upgrade lhr to bkk from economy to premium lowest price from £500 🖕UP YOURS

Also got the offer from EVA with the minimum bar set at $1600 USD but it was only for one segment (flight from TPE to ORD). BKK to TPE (Premium) didn't change. I opted not to play the slider game.
