TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, there isn't a specific visa designated solely for recovery purposes. Medical visas are typically issued for individuals undergoing treatment or recovery after health-related incidents while in Thailand. The new DTV visa allows for up to five years for those in need of ongoing medical treatment, potentially covering substantial medical procedures. However, individuals looking to come solely for recovery without ongoing treatment do not qualify for a specific medical visa, despite the popularity of health-focused tourism and recovery retreats.

Medical visas are granted for people who had an accident or ill health whilst here in Thailand.

Not for people who choose to come here in ill health.

- but what visa were you posting about when you said “medical visas are granted for people who had an accident or ill Heath whilst here in Thailand”? Also, doesn’t the DTV have a medical option and that is a 5 year visa?

Actually was thinking major medical recovery not rehab. Think "80 year old who had a stroke and fell down a flight of stairs" not "crypto guy does too much coke"

There are only visas for treatment and follow on recovery. No visa to just only recover in Thailand.
