Hopefully moving over to marriage visa soon and a little unclear on the process. I am mid 60 day tourist visa now. Can I apply now or do I need to be inside the 30 day extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of transitioning from a tourist visa to a marriage visa (Non-Immigrant O Visa) can begin even if you are currently in the middle of your tourist visa, but there are specific requirements to meet. You need to have a minimum of 15 working days left on your current visa validity in order to apply for the change. Additionally, you must demonstrate that you have at least 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account, which does not necessarily have to be sourced from abroad for a marriage visa. It's also advisable for your spouse to accompany you during the application process at immigration.

be very aware that for the type O visa extension based on Thai wife it doesn't matter where the money came from. The requirement that it comes from overseas is only relevant for a retirement extension, not a marriage extension. Also, whenever you go to immigration concerning your marriage visa extension always take your wife with you, as most offices will not do anything if your wife is not with you.

you should have applied very soon after you entered. In order to be allowed to apply for the "change of visa type" from the Tourist Visa to the "90-days Non-Imm-o marriage visa", you need to have a minimum of 15 working days left on your stay permit stamp. Because the "90-days Non-Imm-O Visa" will be issued for "14 days under consideration". On the day of your application to the change", you need to show a minimum of 400,000.- THB in your Thai bank account, with a proof that they have been transferred from abroad, there is no seasoning needed at this point however. Normally most applicants do not wait until they fetch their 30-days extension on top of the 60 days stay permit from the tourist visa, they don't even wait so much longer into the first 60 days, than what time they need to open a bank account on a tourist visa - for which they might need the help of an agent.

despite contradicting Brandon I'm actually still fine for BOTH sets of parameters. Thankyou.

You probably have no more 15-21 days left on your current stay permit, so you NEED to apply for the 30-days touristic extension. You should then apply for the change ASAP you get issued the 30 more days stay permit. The clock is already running

you are a weird dude memorising people's arrival dates.

the point is, you will run out of time in case Immigration finds your documents are incomplete and you need more time to get your ducks in a row

@Jack ***************
that was very easy to guess since you wrote that you are in the mid of your 60 days tourist visa stay permit😂 . . . my second name isn't Sherlock, really needn't much guessing

no, I am not contradicting Brandon. In order to be able to apply for the "change", you need to have 15 working days left on your stay permit stamp. That's the date in blue ink on your entry stamp. Brandon says it's 15-21 days, depending on which office. I am in perfect unison with this: if it's 15 days, Immigration will point out it's "working days". If they say 21 days, they might add two weekends to the count of 15 working days

You can apply now if you have 400k in a Thai bank account

It doesn't matter. You just need to have a minimum number of days left to apply. Between 14-21 depending on the office.

14-21 without the extension?

@Jack ***************
14-21 days period. Whether you are on the extension or not is irrelevant. You need that many days left on your stamp to apply or they will not accept your application.
