I failed with the search function sorry. What is the province that doesn't require the 400k? I don't think it will be worth the hassle for me to do it that way- but was chatting with Lady and couldn't remember what the province was.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the requirements for obtaining a marriage visa in Thailand, specifically questioning which province, if any, does not require proof of having 400,000 baht in a bank account. It is noted that all immigration offices currently require this amount, including at the Thai embassy in Savannakhet, Laos. There are mentions of alternative visa options like the 90-day single entry visa with potential extensions, but no specific province exists that bypasses the 400k requirement.

It's Savannakhet but they only offer single entry Non-O without proof of funds since November. I was there last week.

With a country that tries so hard to attract tourist it always amazes me that they do so much to prevent us from staying too long

What? Thailand is one of the easiest Countries to stay long term. Try staying long term in the UK or the US or any European Country, they do much more to stop you staying long term.

really? Marry a Thai person and end up divorcing, then the Thai Government says 'get out'! Failure to have the required amount of money in the Bank Account ft the specified times and for the specified periods, or fail to comply with some of those other requirements & they'll kick you out, won't they? When you get a Visa to live in Australia, you can apply for Permanent Residency and within a few years, Citizenship. Only serious criminal offences would see one deported & other than that, residence is permanent. I'm sure that the other countries you mention are the same. Thailand it seems, can kick you out for very 'flimsy' reasons.

only 12k aud & 2yrs wait for that Australian (spouse) visa, plus up to 100 documents proving you're in a legitimate relationship . Marry a Thai and you can get Thai citizenship in a few years as well, if you meet the requirements.

but that is what the ruling elites want. Tourists only bring money and the money goes directly to the state . The rich who can afford the expensive visas too, especially now that they have to pay income tax from abroad.

Why would they invest in their own people or the country while they have rich farangs coming? It's business

I don't think it exists.

You can have the 90 days single entry and the ask for 60 day extensions. And then repeat the process. Annoying, but that's the option left as far as I know

Every immigration office requires 400,000 baht for a marriage visa or the extension.

The Thai embassy at Savannakhet Laos used to not require proof of funds for the multiple entry marriage visa, but they started requiring it a couple of months ago.

Unless you’re from Canada or certain European countries whose embassies & consulates provide ‘Letters of income’. Then you just need that letter (and the ton of other documents that you need for a marriage visa extention that you don’t need for a retirement visa extention.)
