Is it better to book flights directly through airlines or via third-party sites like eDreams?

Just went through the UI to buy a ticket with e dreams, declined all of the bullshit add-ons and the very last page (already did all my traveler info etc) was to sign up as a prime customer or ADD 13 bucks (to a 70 dollar ticket) to continue as a non member. So instead e dreams can fuck off and I'll give my money to ANYONE else. The people who give people like this money need to stop getting invited to parties.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses frustrations with the eDreams booking process, particularly the upselling of memberships and add-ons that increase ticket prices. The comments suggest alternatives such as booking directly through airline websites for better customer service and convenience, and highlight the potential for better pricing through third-party sites on short notice.

I’m sorry I have to ask, were you expecting a business to do something for you for free?

that is a great question! And I'm sorry I have to ask... Do you think this represents their only profit?

Look, there is a difference between "not leaving money on the table" and "making shit up because you think you can get away with it. It isn't even semi justifiable like "want to pay 3 dollars for an email about your flight" or "20 dollars for seat selection and then EVERY seat is a charge beyond that". They are charging 20% or whatever extra to bully you into signing up for a thing where they will charge you 100% of the ticket price every month" and hoping you don't notice.

I’m not saying it’s ethical. I’m saying somebody put together a website, spent advertising and wants to get paid

Book flights direct only

My advice would be to book on the airlines site as any changes will be easier. Having said that this year for personal reasons had to book a few days before the flight and it was £1000 on the aitline site . Tried Booking dot com and it was £700. No issues on the first flight.

I've tried, it usually has its own problems though. Especially with the Asian airlines (really I mean "not focused on English speaking market)

It's a real drag all these Asian airlines who don't talk/type English to accommodate non-Asians while flying all over Asia carrying Asians, isn't it
@Ja**
? Methinks there's a big ol' Universe out there and unfortunately, you're not the centre of it.

it might sting more if you had followed the context of the conversation. At this point it was due to the language issue I use a third party. I don't expect or ask the business in question to accommodate me.
