Why can't I pay my electricity bill on the same day I receive it in Thailand?

Sometimes if I take my electric bill to 711 the day it arrives they are unable to get the system to recognise it. So I will go back in a couple days and it's fine. This time it didn't work for several days and was very high (over 6k- we had a house full of guests for 6 weeks) but when I tried one last time before going into the office it worked- but it brought up TWO bills. I chose the one that reflected my paper copy. Is the other one the next bill and it hasn't been printed yet maybe?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expressed frustration regarding the inability to pay their electricity bill at 711 on the same day it arrived, suggesting that the payment system sometimes doesn't recognize the bill immediately. Other users confirmed that it's common to wait a day or so before attempting to pay. They also recommended using banking apps for easier bill payments and mentioned that if multiple bills show up, one might be the previous month's bill. The conversation highlighted various payment methods, including bank apps and the convenience of paying via 711 after a day.

Never understood this. It’s true. Why don’t they just send it a day later 🤦‍♂️

In our case, it isn't sent out. The meter reader comes to the house, reads the meter, puts the reading into his computer and that generates our bill that he leaves in the mail box. You can't pay it straight away because he hasn't downloaded the day's data to the main company database. Once he's done that I scan the barcode and pay

@Brian *******
that actually makes sense, he prints it out directly and probably downloads end of day. Thanks!

Paid from my bank account with PEA and the Water people who debt my account with no problem for a couple decades. BTW I have an account just for that and top it up as required.

Both PEA and MEA bills can be accessed and paid through the apps for each company. It's easy to add your meter to the app by entering the reference number and account number from a recent paper electric bill, then you can always view future bills on that meter in the app and pay by credit card, online banking, or using the QR code in the app to pay at 7-11.

I just use the bill pay part of my bank app on my phone. I saved it as a favorite and it will store the account number and check the balance and fill in the amount to pay.

No PEA nearby , go to pay there , SO EASY.

We have always the invoice for the month and the one from the month before ( paid ) on our bill

I wouldn’t be too worried about it, possibly last months bill. Don’t you have a bank app on your phone?? You can pay your bills with that, and without a fee.
Micah ********
If you have Thai banking, the PEA app is pretty easy to use.

NEVER can pay on the billarrival day.

You have to wait a day or so before paying electricity and water bills at 711. Just make sure to pay before the cut off date on the bill.I
