You can find an Agent that will work out arrangements for you to get certified and find you a job when you're finished. They'll deduct some portion of your pay check until you are paid (6 months).
I was teach 2018 (about then), I was earning 45,000/month. I was getting paid a little more than other teachers because I was teaching a specialty (math).
"Rama 9 BKK" - I have often wondered where that was.. Rama 9 is a long road but it's pretty common to say "Rama 9" as an area in BKK.
" ...at ubon for a second time", I would encourage you to change embassies. It's not entirely necessary but from what I understand using different embassy looks better. Although, if you're only doing it twice and you have a short visa history, it shouldn't matter.
"... to do the above but then go to Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos after the 9 months", I did this for several years. An immigration officer once told me it looks best if I stay a couple of weeks in one of the other countries. I gone to, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Loas, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Korea, etc. etc. You can do this for a long time, but you assume certain risks. You should always have a plan B (what you do if you are denied entry. Getting denied has never happened to me but it's possible).
"I'm 34 and starting to realize my youth is gradually going..." I started my journey at 39.5 years old.. You are much smarter than I. Good for you. I don't know how you plan to finance your trip but they rarely hire teachers over 50. I am not sure about SCUBA instructors (the other popular Farang job), younger is better.
"Ubon Ratchathani" or "Udon Thani" I think you mean "Udon Thani". I leave it to you to google but Udon Thani is near the Lao border AND the Thai Embassy Laos. I *think* the there is no embassy near Ubon.
Enjoy your travels. I am sure you will not regret it.
I have applied for, and gotten, tourist visas from the Thai Embassy in Washington DC, while outside of the US. If you are a US Citizen you can try there. If you're not, you could still try but its' not likely to work out. 🙂
When I applied for my METV in November, they requested proof of onward flight. You know, you fill out the application, wait a few days and they request additional documents. It may have been my bad luck or may be the policy.
With motorcycles we don't actually drive down the left/right side of the road.. Just whatever works. No joke people drive on the wrong side of the road all the time, its a regular practice. Cars a little better but it's not uncommon to see cars driving down the wrong side of the road. The golden rule is "no harm no foul" so people don't get upset when there is a "near accident". It can be a hair-raising experience at first. You will be fine. You have the basic skills (and more probably).
Sounds like you have a good plan, step 1) arrive and figure out step 2. That's how I did it.
