Does anyone know how long I need to have had £11k in my UK bank account when I apply for the DTV?

I've looked at the Thai Embassy's UK's website, but there is no specific information there pertaining to this question.

(I'll be applying for a soft power DTV - Muay Thai..).

Thanks

Good day! Tried to search Google first, so be kind …

Please help me with the confusion - retirement visa for Thailand at the age of 50. Do I need to have some monthly income (1850 USD per Google)? Obviously, at 50 years old I won’t be collecting my social security yet … is there a way to get retirement visa based on bank accounts balance or any trick around? Can I pay myself that darn 1850USD each month?

I have funds (sold all the assets in US) but not at retirement age yet

Thanks for your advice

Ps. Not 50 yet, not for a long while BUT already looking into my options outside of the US and EU

I’m considering the ED vs the DTV. My husband and I both want to learn Thai, but I also intend to work my remote job (I’m an independent mental health practitioner with a virtual practice). I’m reading that I would not be ALLOWED to work, even remotely, if I chose the ED route. The intention with choosing the ED route is to extend the total time we are able to stay…I would pick up the DTV after my ED is completed and my husband would come as my dependent. What problems or issues would you foresee? What advice would you offer? And is this something I should attempt to navigate without any professional guidance from someone who practices immigration law here in the USA? Side note to add, I’m planning for the future, not an immediate move. I’m also hoping that you guys can offer some advice on locations we should visit when we come as tourists (for 2 weeks or so) that would help us determine the area we want to focus on to settle in. We will be prioritizing safety, amenities, affordability and proximity to a school and an embassy or immigration office for future business.

If you have been approved for a Soft Power activity for example Muay Thai .

Do you have to start the Muay Thai as soon as you get into Thailand 🇹🇭?

Or can you just start in a few months once you have settled in ?

Since I have all my funds in my company accounts, I need to transfer to my personal account, and therefor are not able to present a 3 or 6 months statement…

So my option is to apply from an embassy, that accepts the current bank statement.

I am going for the digital nomad / workcation option.

💰 What embassy accepts 500K as only CURRENT balance (digital nomad, NOT soft power option)?

Anyone have experience with this? (Not the soft power option, bc they usually accept the current statement only, from what I can see).

I would prefer to apply from Asia.

Thank you all for all your amazing help and advice ☺️🙏🏼

How to have free healthcare for life: The alternative to the DTV, the Taiwan Gold Card

This is really outside the box but I think some people should at least consider it.

Taiwan has free healthcare and a lot simpler ‘immediate’ residency with the ‘gold card’ for only $350USD. As long as you stay 183 days per year in Taiwan for three years you then have permanent residency.

As thailand now taxes foreign income. A good strategy would be living in both for three years and keeping Thailand under 180 days so you are not taxed, then migrating permanently to thailand if you enjoy it more after your healthcare in Taiwan is solidified and you have residency.

The ‘ideal’ which I am still considering is simply living in Taiwan for 3 years and for 6 months of the year when you’re bored hitting up Pattaya or Cebu or Bali or where ever else and after 3 years, more permanently move to Thailand, with your residency + free healthcare secured.

Of course most people aren’t going to be willing to do this, me either at this stage. But if you could, would then be free healthcare for life. Plus a permanent residency, I think 2-4 years paid maternity leave and actual government benefits, which even if you go after and get residency in Thailand, to me, all I see is a second un-avoidable tax bill, so why bother?

After speaking to the head maxiofacial surgeon in Khaosiung hospital, he told me a lot of Americans (and HKers) are taking up this strategy and simply flying to Taiwan when elective issues come up.

Otherwise, for now, based on my research I think travel insurance is the way to go for healthcare. I think blue cross blue shield does it in America, safetywing people mention sometimes and I use fastcover (for Australia) with no excess around $1500AUD for the year.

For now, I’m still just considering it. But! For me the DTV was definitely not a celebration it was an admission, to myself, that 100% I will not be living in Thailand forever, it is purely temporary and the DTV solidified that as I have since completely stopped looking into investing in or making a company here to get the work permits + other requirements necessary for residency. So yes, the DTV is cool, but as a long term plan, I mean it’s not one unless you are 50 and by 55 you can get the retirement visa.

Has anyone tried using "My THAI Visa" agent for Dtv?

For those who said I can apply on my own, I do not qualify. I have no funds in bank in any country. No income. No job. . No business.
