TLDR : Answer Summary
The best school to get certified for teaching English in Thailand can vary, but many recommend SEETEFL in Chiang Mai and CELTA-accredited programs. It is essential to have a bachelor's degree to teach legally in Thailand, as schools require this qualification. Salaries for English teachers can range significantly, with some reporting earnings around 45,000 THB per month, but this can vary based on the school and location.

Pay is not great

Look at Ajarn.com website. A lot of schools in Thailand post job opportunities here. You can also post your cv so schools can also check your qualifications and suitability for them. Best to try to get a bilingual school or a school with an English progmme rather than a Thai school as salaries are usually higher.

My wife tiny village has tons kids. It’s really not a place that can afford an English teacher. Outside wat bot Phitsanulok farming area. My wife and I are replacing her house. I often wondered if I can get a special visa as married to teach conversational english. I don’t need to get paid also I don’t want long hours. I want it to be fun. . My wife only took three years from nothing. I’m actually considering moving there full time but my next trip for 3 months. Will make me decide.

Try getting a degree from Yale or Harvard. It might not help, but it couldn't hurt. That being said, find a college in your area that has TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certificaton. With one of those and a BS or BA degree you will have many opportunities. Take your time. Plan wisely. Good luck.

The ones that offer CELTA or TrinityTESOL. I did a CELTA at ECC Phuket. It's the highest level TEFL you can get. Bit pricey but there is a reason for that. Or just get some ordinary TEFL course but not as good. Anyway strictly you only need degree to get job teaching English

The problem is that CELTA and Trinity TESOL are virtually unknown to many schools in Thailand. The schools, recruiters, and agents only know "TEFL" and bachelor's degree. Plus, from what I've heard CELTA techniques are more geared towards adult learning. Better for aspiring teachers to get a bachelor's in Education and get licensed or qualified in their home county first. Then do a TEFL, if needed.

Not sure if you are aware, but there is a Facebook Group called:

JOBS FOR FOREIGNERS IN THAILAND

Join this group who may also be able to help? Also, I have seen many people asking for Private tutors, and also advertising Vacancies for Teachers to work in Schools/Universities

Good luck - hope this helps…

Take a TEFL course in USA before you come. A lot of crappy programs here just taking money. IMO. I’ve been here 12 years. Seen a lot of crap and heard many similar stories

Do online TEFL cert and find a job in Vietnam. They pay much better money there.

Check out CELTA, the most acknowledged English teaching certificate.

You dont need anything other than a BA in any subject from your country to teach at govermmnet school. TEFL certificates are not needed. A PGCE professional teachers license is needed to teach at an international school. If you are not a NES you have may have to get IELTS certification.

to teach English legit or any other subject you legally need a degree

If you get a job without a degree pay will be terrible and technically it’s not legit
Kool *******
The best school is the one you can graduate from with a university degree, and then a teaching credential after. You can not legally teach in Thailand without a legal certified as being real university degree.

The best one is not available in reality and salary is not fixed up to school, not fixed rate like in US

Look up Bangkok pat on YouTube. He has good sources for getting g certified and also how to handle a classroom. As a 20 year former teacher, classroom management is the toughest skill to acquire. Good luck

You can find an Agent that will work out arrangements for you to get certified and find you a job when you're finished. They'll deduct some portion of your pay check until you are paid (6 months).

I was teach 2018 (about then), I was earning 45,000/month. I was getting paid a little more than other teachers because I was teaching a specialty (math).

The best school is the one that will hire you. Do you have a bachelor's degree as that's a requirement to teach English in Thailand.
