In Thailand the vehicle is insured, not the driver. You'd have to read the vehicles policy to see if it limits the insurance companies liability if the driver is unlicensed.

Hey Mike, E visa is just the application route, so applying for a tourist visa online (which is 60 days.)

45 day visa exempt entry can be extended 1 time at an immigration office for an additional 30 days for 1900 baht. Most offices want tm30s.
