Iโm mixed Thai - Aussie, My bf is from Mexico, Since my bf isnโt allowed to go to Australia, Thailand also wonโt let him in, We decided to be in together in Cancun, Mexico. The best decision i have ever made during covid, I was in Melbourne during lockdown for 6months, it was the worst time. Mexico is so beautiful and cheap. People are friendly and yummy food. A lot or American and some European tourists here. However iโm looking forward to go back to Thailand then Australia next year when everything is more settled.
wouldnโt hold my breathe that Thailand will be open next year at this rate

It is at the beginning Jennifer and albeit I don't know ur current situation I believe Turkey makes is 99% easier than any other country. I'm from USA and the now Wifey Thai of course. I just needed to go to my US Embassy get my Single Affidavit and drivers license notarized (I know drivers license is a bit weird but because Thai has a Tabian Baan they wanted it) Then went to Ministry of Foreign of Affairs. Wife got her single to marry paper from Thailand mailed here. After that we set an appointment to get married at the Thai Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. Eventually I believe you WILL have to go to Ankara but like I said not sure of ur circumstance. After we were married NOTHING is done online. Day after married dropped $80 (has to be USD) and the required paperwork. Filled out their 1 page paper for the COE, SAME DAY received visa, next day received COE. For your F2F AND COVID test they are both very cheap and can be done via Istanbul Airport. Took me ONLY 3 hours to do both! Paid $27 for COVID test and about $60 for my F2F. Flew out 2 days later, no problem! Hope this eases your worries a bit but you can do this. In reality I got married, receive my visa, AND COE in 3 days! So you will be good. Like I said I helped 3-4 other couples too. Don't worry we are FREE for advice haha just believe in paying it forward since I received a lot of help along the way. Have a good day.
Hello Jennifer. My wife and I just came from there, now Day # 4 in quarantine. PM or ask here if you have any questions or just look up my comments. I have the whole process down :)

For the first time in 3 years, not spending my winter in Thailand, same as my boyfriend. We decided to go to Mexico this year, itโs open to tourism, no requirements at all. Good measurements in place but no crazy panic.
Actually - I love it here and will see when I can afford to go back to TH. Still wanna go, but I think feeling extremely unwelcome all the time would get to me pretty quickly...
Samira *********
It is, and as much as I love Thailand and my life there, at some Point I just had to choose a realistic, nice and sunny (and yummy!) option over my hope of returning soon.
itโs awesome! Cheaper that TH for me )and i was never a crazy spender), very friendly, open people, easy to get in touch with locals, sunny (depending on where you live) and yummy food.
agree. Thailand is making it very difficult and is more than indifferent lately.

Been on Phangan long term but weโre having an extended break on Samui, taking advantage of some very generous Covid discounts to stay in a place weโd never usually be able to afford.
Weโre near Lamai, itโs busy with locals trading as normal but ten minutes up the road the more touristy Chaweng is basically closed down .
All of it.
I like the peace and quiet, Iโm loving it here and plan to go back to Phangan as long as we can still extend visas but itโs terribly sad to see so many businesses shut down, many for good...
Me the same, Samui, but up in Plai Laem. Sorry to say I very much enjoy Samui without the typical Samui tourist (drunk, loud, obnoxious, disrespectful), although I feel for the local businesses and people. And the sight of abandoned shops, houses and resorts is not pretty, many being pulled down around here, I hope them to be replaced by similar buildings and materials, not just concrete, steel and glass boxes. Not sure that many friends and regulars will be able to return this coming winter. I think just weekends away on Koh Phan Ngan perhaps, and also a great time to visit other parts of Thailand.
Toowoomba QLD waiting to move to Thailand soon we hope๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ

Seattle, Washington. Came back to the U.S. for medical treatment in January and got stuck :-( . I had a flight to Phuket scheduled on January 24th, but I got sick and then... well, you all know the rest :-(. My heart longs for Thailand (and, honestly, SE Asia in general)
practically normal here. Masks mandatory on trains and supposed to be worn in taxis but thatโs about it really. General mask wearing by some of the public but about as normal as it gets for now. Downtown at 101 is packed full of people etc.

I assume you're joking. That kind of travel wont be on the cards for Australians for a long while, maybe 2024. Just a couple of weeks ago it was announced that Australians wont be permitted to travel to the US or UK until early 2022. Sadly I think the international travel ban will remain in place until then.
not joking, I have my exemption to leave Australia already. We are not looking to travel to a lot of places but Iโll be visiting a few sth East Asian countries next year. If we only end up in only 2 countries over the year thatโs okay too.
I'm wanting my son to come to Thailand next year so that I can go back to Australia to do some professional developmement and contact hours, so I am watching things carefully. As it stands now my son and I would have to do expensive hotel quarantine both ways and he would need to have $22K in his bank account for 6 months, just to enter Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa or a STV. I am hoping that things may relax later next year

Checking out of quarantine @the o2 hotel Bangkok....
I've owned 2 Condo's (made into one large 225 squM one) that I use to visit for 4 or 5 days a month every month plus at least 2 x 2 week or more visits a year. It was my Circuit Breaker for the pressure of working long days in Singapore. I've looked at all the various visas, but 2 weeks in Quarantine tough to do, plus the totally confusing/costly insurance.
, I am awaiting the travel bubble between Thailand and Singapore that does away with quarantine, like what Hong Kong and Singapore now have. Expecting it by December or January.
All good in terms of Covid, pretty much out of the community. Maybe 1 case in past week, like everywhere else still returning cases from overseas. Pretty much free movement but masks worn everywhere even in my own office. Social distancing enforced & limits on meeting/dining of 5 people. Really crowded in many places as locals return & no travel means quiet places aren't so quiet.
Awesome you shouldn't have any issues since you are married. Just a lot of paperwork. I'm from America but we came from Turkey, in quarantine day # 3 now. Cheers mate!
, businesses are opened with restrictions. Face mask compulsory outside the residence and while seated and waiting for your food or drinks to be served.
