TLDR : Answer Summary
As of April 2021, Thailand updated its entry procedures to include varying quarantine durations based on vaccination status. Travelers who are vaccinated can now face a 7-day quarantine, while unvaccinated travelers must complete a 10-day quarantine. The need for COVID insurance has been questioned, with indications that coverage specifics may have changed, but health insurance is still required. Vaccinated individuals are encouraged to keep proof of vaccination for expedited processing upon arrival.

- The situation here is fluid. They reduced quarantine time.. Then they went back to 14 (or 15) days for everybody, due to a current spike in cases. Its rather unpredictable. The information above was probably accurate for a week or two.

By June, will the Quarantine change to 3 days or less for tourists from the USA, who have proof of the COVID vaccine?

I arrived early April 2 and was asked at one of the stations if I had been vaccinated. I produced proof and received a round red stamp that said 7 day Quarantine. I sent an email to reception with a photo of it and the hotel changed my reservation to 7 nights. A refund was processed upon my departure. So be sure to have proof of vaccination ready at the airport. It was at the first station of the process. I was thrilled because when I left it wasn't official yet.

so is Thailand open to tourist visa? Or business visa only? In Vietnam at the moment, and ready to explore another country on my list in SEA before going back to the states.

I read they plan on lifting quarantine regulations in Phuket first, from 1 July for vaccinated travelers, and if that goes well then other "popular" tourist areas. This is kind of what I'm hoping for, I want to move in July or August but I'm bringing my pets and do not want to put them into a foreign boarding facility upon arrival so I can quarantine.

That’s the thai government’s intention at the moment. It will depend on how quick they can mass produce the AZ vaccine in Thailand and roll it out to the public. The ambitious target is to produce 10million doses per month from June....

I still don't get this. Vaccinated people might be protected themselves but they can still transmit the virus, can't they? If so, this could seriously backfire

evidence is showing that the Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines are actually lowering the transmission rate as well as providing protection.

So without vaccine, 10 day quarantine. With vaccine, 7-day quarantine. How is 3 less day quarantine supposed to be encouraging tourists to return? Vaccine plus negative covid test should be zero quarantine. Get with it, Thailand! I got family I want to visit already...

it means that quarantine is now half what it was (with vaccine). This is a great incentive. The UK for example, has already given 31 million adults at least 1x vaccine.

as Ron said- you could still encounter covid between getting tested and arriving in Thailand (Thais on the same flight are not required to take any test in order to return to their country).

the problem is with a vax and negative test you can still get infected on your way here. I do believe we will get to a 3 day isolation after a negative test on arrival. The problem is that they want to vaccinate more Thai people in tourists areas before opening up. It is however not going at any pace at present.

Lol you get the vaccine its DOES not stop you getting C19 and it does not stop you passing it on. Do people understand this and it's not a one off vaccine you will have to take the vaccine every year or maybe 2 times a year . And on a side note how many people died on the roads in Thailand every day maybe they need to ban cars.

Trying to explain facts to some people is pretty exhausting. They read one headline and cannot read anything further. New vaccines are monitored continuously and results are updated fairly often, but new information doesn't suit their agenda.

results have so far shown in the uk that the vaccine actually lowers the transmission rate as well as providing individual protection.

Your sweeping generalisation anticipates that one can get infected and then redistribute the pathogen instantly- like a game of tag. This is false. The virus has to take to the subject and reproduce at number in order to be passed on. This takes days. The majority of people vaccinated will have an immune system capable of fending off the virus enough to stop a patient passing it on.

Being a hoax with doctors backing this. You can show me videos on YouTube say coronavirus is real . It's all about the money aust spent 3.7 billion on vaccine this year and this will go on every year sucking money out of the country. Now you have to have a C19 passport Y not just put a Yellow star on us this is the way it's going . And we no how that turn out. May be you will be lucky and get a red star.

There are NO certificates of Vaccination in the UK and so this is not possible to obtain or thus present for UK vaccinated arrivals to Thailand, but maybe US citizens are getting these and is US specific.

no need for insults , and as an admin you should know better than to do that. Please observe better manners, stick to facts, be civil. Public Health England (PHE) has confirmed that this is simply a printed card with space for someone’s name and vaccination details to be written by hand, there is nothing to stop someone altering or adding to what is written on it. The small card (see image) contains no data or secure personal information to prove who has been vaccinated. It records details of the Covid-19 vaccination someone has received, along with the appointment date for their second injection. According to PHE, it is similar to those already used for other NHS vaccinations that involve more than one dose (such as one for the Human Papillomavirus vaccination) and is not intended for any other purpose.

This topic that the card is wrongly thought to be of any other use or the mistaken suggestion that it can be used as any form of 'proof' of vaccination is covered here:

The UK Govt is still considering the entire issue of so called 'vaccination passports'.

That would still be needed before the embassy would issue a COE for the traveler. From what I read on this update, the only change is a reduction in quarantine time for vaccinated travelers, and no F2F needed. Everything else appears to be the same.

The Quarantine period will be determined by the health control officers upon arriving in Thailand.

Now that's a new one...

So that means what in relation to negotiations on booking a hotel before arrival which you have to do?

I’ve just gone through it an hour ago .

You hand your documents in and the health officials ask if you have been vaccinated...( I assume if you say yes , you need to show the certificate)

If you say no it is an automatic 10 days unless you come from one of the listed countries.
