TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent reports indicate that the Thai embassy in Laos has instituted new visa application requirements that include a medical certificate proving a virus-free status and mandatory health insurance. This could complicate the visa process, especially as border crossings, such as Mae Sai, face shutdowns. Many expats are concerned about these changes impacting their plans, particularly for those whose visas are nearing expiration. There's ongoing confusion regarding the necessity of health documentation, highlighting concerns for individuals trying to navigate visa protocols during this evolving situation.

I think I got a medical certificate at the Myanmar border, Thai side. I had to stand in line give my papers to a doctor looking guy. He had taken some photos and sent me along my way. Didn't even take my temp.

I have an E visa for Laos. I don't need medical certificate to get in yes?
I haven't seen anything specific on it other than it needs to show a negative test result from a doctor or hospital within 72 hours before your arrival in Thailand.

Can anyone confirm if Nong Khai border un is still possible today? If not, I have no option... due for March 28.

I have heard people are getting through today but maybe not tomorrow, as Laos has announced the suspension of VOA.
How do we go about getting these medical certificates and insurance? This is not good news for me. My ED visa is up on April 8th and I was going to use VOA for the first time ever while I wait to get my deposit back for my apartment and get my dog’s export paperwork figured out so we can go back to the US. He’s gonna be stuck here while I’m stuck in another country.
Yeah that's just come out in the last few minutes. We'll see who wins this pissing contest. Something tells me it's not over until Anuthin stumbles into the conversation, and he hasn't yet
I saw that too. I believe that was translated wrong though. Why would a thai person need to show health insurance to enter Thailand?
I think that just applies to those coming from high risk counties.

Yep. And Mae Sai appears to be shut down, even with a visa for Myanmar. Right now the only border I've heard of being useful is Chiang Khong, but that's only because they haven't started enforcing the new requirements issued by Laos this morning. Changing hourly right now, and many people are in a bad position visa wise...
