TLDR : Answer Summary
The online appointment system for Bangkok immigration is currently down, requiring individuals to show up in person and take a number for their immigration matters. There are recent announcements indicating that starting July 19, in-person walk-up services will not be available, and appointments will be mandatory. This change appears to be part of an effort to revamp the booking system due to high demand.

Starting the 19th of July there is NO WALK UP SERVICE at any of the bangkok immigration offices and everyone will have to make an appointment. I think they're re-vamping the booking system to better handle the load.
that's the thing with the appointments, you show up 10 minutes early, get your paperwork checked by someone and then right on the dot you're sent in to the officer. They CRANK people thru.
I did 90 day reporting this week via appointments and was in and out in under 15 minutes from the time I set foot into the building AND I was with people last week for retirement extensions and we were walking out with the new year extension 30 minutes after the appointment time (had to wait for the sign off on the passport was all)
The appointment system is one smooth running process and it stops the bottleneck when goof-ball foreigners get in front of an officer but don't have the correct documentation. That's weeded out BEFORE they even get to an officer.
I mean wait times for appointments. They have an appointment system for the DMV in NJ, earliest appointment to renew my DL this year was 2.5 months in advance. Went in May and still haven't gotten my DL in the mail yet.
because the appointment system wasn't mandatory I was able to book an appointment for my 90 day report the day before and pretty much pick when I wanted to be there. Same for the retirement last week. It was such a poorly promoted feature that almost all the slots were open. Only restriction was you couldn't book an appointment on the day you were going, you had to book at least one day in advance
