Here is the list of requirements for someone with a Thai spouse needing reparation back to Thailand. NOTE: I've seen multiple reports that the #1 section 5 is extremely important to your application. Your spouse HAS to write a compelling letter as to why you need entry into the country (sole supporter, sick, ext). Remember there is only sufficient ASQ for 200 foriegners per day to enter Thailand, an probably thousands of applicants.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Foreigners married to Thai citizens must provide specific documents to enter Thailand during travel restrictions. A crucial requirement is a compelling letter from the Thai spouse explaining the need for entry. Due to high demand and limited quarantine spaces, only 200 foreigners can enter per day. Entry requirements may vary depending on the country, with some embassies possibly not listing all necessities. Travelers also need to consider COVID-19 testing and quarantine guidelines.

Maybe a few months ago. Tests take a couple hours now.
Kevin *****
@Garrett **********
the "couple of hours " tests are restricted to essential personnel and at risk individuals.

@Garrett **********
latest from the UK testing centres is that they have gone from 2 days to 5 days for results due to the numbers of tests being requested. There are tests you can buy (at £250 a go) that offer a 48 hour turnaround.

Thank you for this Garrett. I have seen similar info before. The thing that you mention that is very important is the 200 people per day. Do you have any insight into the process you are given approval to fly on your desired date? Do you have to book everything b4 hand and hope? You might not know the answer to this and that is OK. It is not a situation I am in but is the situation a friend is in and I am trying to help him where I can.

Seems like the step in getting in to thailand is difficult than u get the 1st honor PHDs in oxford U. Cant imagine the people who really need to enter and the process flow going....sure mad while dealing with it!

Any arguments about wearing masks is a sign of human stupidity....plain arrogance ....Thais are happy to wear masks, it’s not a big deal and some do all year round, they are used to wearing masks for the pollution and burn off months, so when covid came along no problem, wear a mask, hence Thailand , like Hong Kong and Taiwan have small infection rates...it’s been proven beyond doubt that the simple act of wearing a mask cuts transmission significantly....it’s not a hardship, you don’t have to wear it at home.......get a brain all

the I don’t want to wear a mask muppets......idiots.

No Covid 19 test is required, just a fit to fly certificate from a physician, which does not include a covid test.

. I think the fit to fly covers only Covid 19 symptoms. It's not a full lab test certificate. So if you're running a temperature, coughing etc you won't get the certificate. The fact that everyone on that plane that lands in Bangkok will go into 14 days quarantine will keep the authorities happy, and should anything show up in that 14 days you've got your Covid 19 insurance.

The Chinese are notorious for being cheap they don't spend that much money and they are boycotting Thailand have been for two years now. if they keep this stupidity of they're going to take their country from third world status 2 fourth. Right now 7.7 million Thai s that work in the tourist industry or out of work. that means when they go to the market they can't buy meat it can only afford rice. They can't buy school supplies. Can't buy their children's shoes. Can't pay their phone bill, rent, electric bill,. Some of them will resort to crime and some will commit suicide.
Ivan ************
@Andrew ********
this isn't true though, any more than other groups. I'm in Chiang Mai, Chinese eat at the same Thai owned places I go to eat. And the same people who say all Chinese only go to Chinese establishments constantly complain about there being too many Chinese in the places they go to. It's just Sinophobia.
Andrew *********
Ivan McAvinchey Not Sinophobia did you enjoy being with groups of Chinese as opposed to other nationalities. I travel a lot and have been in loads of flights with Chinese hordes, yes hordes, they do not have any consideration for anyone else. Like you I treat others with respect but rather Chinese are so focused on their "needs" they ignore or do nit have the niceties that others do.
Ivan ************
@And***
so you are also trying to patronise these Chinese businesses that are the only thing the Chinese go to? Or how do you end up stuck with them?

Your response about Chinese "hordes" indicates perfectly clearly, it's Sinophobia.
Andrew *********
@Ivan ***********
Can you explain why the Thai authorities have to put up special signs only for Chinese tourist telling them how to behave? It is not Sinophobia , it years of travelling and living abroad you notice different behaviour. I have relatives who are Chinese by the way .

Thats Totaly wrong. The about 650.million middle Class Chinese have the Money to spend and they Do .in Restaurants they Are very wellcome because they Eat 3 Or 4 Times more and Drink wine ...they Not Buy cheap copien only Original Brand, before they go HOME they Buy a Iot of Food from thailand .....we saw that here on phuket many years.

The average spend of the Chinese is much more then from other countries......well living in deep Issan , I think you can not judge out of it.
Andrew *********
@Reiner ********
But a lot of the sound is in Chinese owned businesses and a lot off tour companies , coaches etc are Chinese owned You have seen the groups with Chinese guides taking them to select establishments mostly Chinese owned they like to spend their money with their own people.
Ivan ************
@Andrew ********
same like farang who can't eat Thai food and only patronize Western bars and restaurants?
Andrew *********
@Ivan ***********
Yes but A lot of Thai food is very spicy even I can't eat most of it. The Chinese are bussed to Chinese owned restaurants and establishments .
Ron ******************
@Thomas ****
so they must open the country to sick tourists that can reinfect the country so that the government must spend B 400 000 per patient to recover. In return the country will get maybe 20% of its normal tourists back. Yip makes sense doesnt it. Do you think normal tourists will use a mask for 18 hours at a stretch (4 hours before the flight plus 10 hour flight plus 4 hours to clear on arrival). Who are these tourist that will suddenly come to Thailand? The US employment to population ratio is now 53% that means 47% are not working. Same same in the UK and Europe.
Scott **********
@Ron *****************
Well I would say that the total hoops being requested are over the top, mask wearing is not the deal breaker. When I left Thailand In March I think I had only worn a mask one time in my life. I wore one from arrival at BKK to my home in Vancouver. Now it is a daily ritual.

This applies to people entering from the Philippines. The entry requirements may be different in your home country. IE number 5. A letter from your spouse is not one of the requirements posted on the thai embassy website in the US.

It is a requirement though, if it's not listed on their website they'll ask you for it when you email your application. The embassies just process the applications and send them to the ministry of foreign affairs, they are the ones who decide.
