TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the behavior of passengers who stand up when a plane lands, possibly to retrieve bags and expedite disembarkation. Many contributors express mixed feelings, ranging from amusement to irritation. Comments highlight cultural differences in such behavior, especially noting tendencies among certain nationalities. Some passengers argue that early standing can save a few moments in the immigration line, while others criticize the lack of patience shown by those who rush to stand even before the plane has stopped.

Maybe he was tired of sitting on his ass

shave maybe a good 15-30 minutes at times. i rarely put bags on the overhead bin and when people start to stand up in the plane, i race to the front past the people who are slowpokes and those who need to to get their overhead bads. one time, i was first person in the immigration counter before all the people start building up long lines behind me. so NO don't stand up right when the plane lands, but i take the aisle seat and when it's ok to stand up, i smoothly go towards the door early
yes... I needed to do all of this as I'd already pre-booked my bus ticket to Pattaya with not much time to spare from landing to bus leaving so I would have wasted 120b if I didn't run past all the people in front of me on the plane... So glad I pre-booked as well as it was a 3 hour wait for the bus if I had not of done this.

If you've ever been on a flight to or from China, Bangladesh or India, this is normal behavior. Everyone stands up before the plane has even docked at the gate, LOL.
the chinese are scrambling down the aisle as soon as its on tarmac funny seeing the stewardeses trying to stop them

He also pushed to be at the front of the departure gate so that he could be sitting down five minutes before everyone else

For me it's harder to understand why people want to get on the plane early. After all, getting off early and get first in the queue can save time but getting on early never leads to saved time, all arrives the same time anyway.
blah blah blah. I still maintain that it's a fact that Indians and Chinese tend to get up before they're supposed to and this happens on nearly every flight to those countries and within those countries.
It doesn't happen on a regular basis within SE Asia or in western countries.
it is particular nationalities. I've never seen a planeload of Caucasians in say Australia all get up before the plane has docked at the gate. Yet on nearly every flight to or from China or within the country, I have noticed this. It's similar in India and Bangladesh.
You're being politically correct because you're probably a liberal but facts trump emotions. Just because the occasional white person (probably someone from Eastern Europe or Russia) might stand up before the seat belt sign is turned off, doesn't mean it's a habit that is common among westerners.
On the contrary. Like I said, certain nationalities are like this. It's part of their culture.
I am not a fooking liberal or politically correct, I was born in a small western NSW mining town over 60 years ago and have been involved with construction and mining ever since travelling the world regularly in my job.
I am simply sharing my many years of travel experience with hipo critical imbeciles like yourselves.
I now live in south east Asia and yes they do tend to get up early, like when the plane has stopped and yes the seat belt light is on, but I still say most caucasians (politically correct whiteish people) do this also.
But it's not the case that all east, middle and western asians get up while the plane is still taxiing into the gate, and yes I have seen this in asian travel but not often in 35 plus years of travelling abroad to all parts of the world. Most of them have not flown in a plane and don't fully understand the process.
Now stick that where the sun don't shine and enjoy the rest of your day.
no they're not. I've never seen a plane load of Caucasians (westerners) or even Thais and Laotians stand up before the seat belt sign has been turned off. The odd individual might do this but not most of the flight on every single flight as is the case on flights to or from or within countries such as China and India.
If you have checked bags thereโs absolutely no advantage as bags come out usually at random. I sit for as long as I can and breeze off. Youโll then see the same idiots standing right in front of the carousel so nobody else can see the bags coming and have to squeeze through if you do see your bag.

I usually get a window seat so 1.7 second guy is never me. However, I much prefer 1.7 second guy over the guy that goes through the metal detector 5 times because they just can't figure out - take of all of your Jewry

I am doing the same - likely stupid - also do not like to wait - guess something engrained about moving forward - then comes possibly customers, the luggage, the paying for parking and on it goes

In another thread it's a 10-hour flight ๐๐๐

Because you can get your belongings ready more easily and be first to reach the locker, maybe?
? Oh ? I am no native English speaker but thought "Shaves" is what you do with a razor. "Saves" it should be I guess ๐คทโโ๏ธ Even on google translate.
So he could be one of the first on and put his bag in the first overhead he came to allowing him to pick it up at the last minute on the way off, and saving him having to lug it down the aisle to his seat like everyone else. ๐
When I flew back from Phuket to Dubai last year, as soon as the plane hit the tarmac the guy next to me stood up and wanted to get his bag out of the locker๐คฃ
They could have stood up probably 30 minutes before the landing decent started. I fly back and forth between Washington and Thailand a few times a years and stand up plenty, but not on landing.

I have just a little under 1M actual flight miles. Used to be Platinum every year on Northwest (now Delta). I flew so much that I was alway upgraded to first class on all domestic flights. I always booked isle seats because I preferred them on the flight and I like to stand up as soon as we land because I have been sitting so long. To those on here with the 1.5 seconds earlier to get off the plane to be polite I will just say you are less than smart. To all go good people have a great day, to all the not nice people well, eat my shorts
Agreed if you're sitting in the isle you should stand up and get out of the way.

Better then the people who clap
Paul *******
David Hattan it's certainly common for Swiss, Germans, Austrians and other surrounding countries to clap. Certainly was on all my trips to/from Europe until the most recent one.
sitting right now with a German national, he insists the only time he's seen Germans clap was on a private charter flight. Austrians and swiss the same, no clapping.

David Hattan mainland Europe. I've never flown into the UK. Europe is quite different from the UK of course. They drive on the opposite side of the road. Their ones look more like your 7s and they cross their 7s. So it's not a stretch to see how Europeans would clap while British people don't.
David Hattan I've been on many flights bound to or from Europe from Thailand, Singapore and the USA and most of the time, passengers would clap. This didn't happen on my most recent flights a few months ago but it was common a decade ago. Interesting about the Philippines, didn't know that but haven't been there either.
never been on a UK flight where people have felt the need to clap. never been on a flight filled predominantly with Western Europeans where they have felt the need to clap. Been on several flights to and from the Philippines where passengers have felt the urge to clap.

Why? People who clap once the flight lands are much less annoying than those who stand up too early not to mention they don't present a safety risk.
I was kidding, lol. Honestly I'm just tired of sitting on the plane. Can't remember the last flight I took that was under 8 hours.
Danny *******
What I find so annoying is the guy/gal who jumps up, grabs their overhead bags and rushes forward as far as they can. Now, they are right next to my seat and I can't get up if I wanted to.
