TLDR : Answer Summary
The post welcomes new group members and invites them to share how they found the group, with many indicating they discovered it through social media or recommendations from other expats. Members express gratitude for the group's support, especially regarding visa concerns, with some mentioning the complexities of obtaining retirement visas as one of their motivations for joining. The community has seen significant growth recently, raising curiosity about the influx of new members, which some attribute to Facebook's new features and the increasing challenges related to visa regulations in Thailand.

Your getting more people because Thailand has made it so complicated with visas and extensions.

5 years ago I could go to Thailand from USA for 3 months and renew in Thailand, no problem! Now it’s only a month and expensive to fly as well as stay!

Thailand changes their rules all the time, so sad!

Just about to retire and interested to see how folk were handling visas. Mates of mine are in the group a d FB popped it up as a group I might like. That is a new FB feature I think , so may explain the uptick.

Our group hit 40k members on Thursday. 5 years of growth. Now at 41k on Saturday. No idea why. Not a complaint. Just curious.

hopefully not scammers :)

We do scan new applications for date of joining Facebook and number of groups they’ve in. Typically to root out the bots and scammers. Pretty much 99% of the applications seem legit. Booted one who’s first post was a blatant advert to “contact me for a visa”.

We don’t allow adverts.

I used an advise I found in the group regarding the required onward flight out of Thailand when entering on a tourist visa.

Very helpful 👍
