They do not allow “big tour buses “ to go up because it’s dangerous ( lot of people and rainy season ). You can still going up there by motorbike, red truck, car, etc. Doesn’t mean you cannot go up there at all

I've never seen a bus flip going up or down Doi Suthep. If a lot of people are going up the mountain, it would make sense to bring them up in one vehicle, not in 20.Jean **************

tour buses with 2 floors and big buses are the ones they banned. I think vans or mini bus are still allowed. I have seen so many news about big buses accidents; turned over and lot of people died and got hurt. I think that’s what they try to prevent.Jean **************

long holiday = could be a “a lot of people“ and the traffic could be heavier “than usual”. As I know especially on Buddhism holiday a lot of people are going up there to make merit. So maybe that’s why.Garrett ***********

Right, good point. Now keep in mind the Philippines is no better (they're keeping masks for some time to come despite much lower case numbers than Thailand) and not long ago they were still mandating face shields in addition to masks! Laos is getting there... masks not really enforced anymore except on public transportation and malls. Malaysia is still mask mad but outdoor mandates were scrapped 2 weeks ago.
If I was in your position I'd see what things are like in July and if they haven't scrapped this nonsense by then, choose another country where they have.

Ah well. Good thing South East Asia is a region, not a country. Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia are all on offer. Thailand was always the gem, the step ahead but times change and nothing lasts forever. Let's see how it pans out but I wont live in hope forever. Life's short.Reply to
