Attention members:

Yes, the PM announced tonight that quarantine for some nationalities (vaccinated people) would be dropped November 1st.

Yes, the PM, or a Governor, or a minister has announced this atleast once a month for the past 15 months and it has yet to happen. Lets not forget October 1st, then October 15th, and Now November 1st.

No, we will not be approving any of the 300 incoming posts over the next 48 hours of people asking if "quarantine has really been dropped for vaccine people Nov 1st????"

Just watch and see what happens.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Prime Minister of Thailand announced that quarantine for vaccinated travelers from certain nationalities will be lifted starting November 1st. However, many members express skepticism due to previous similar announcements that did not materialize. While some are preparing for travel, others are reluctant and awaiting further details before making plans. This has led to discussions about the reliability of the government's statements and the ongoing changes in travel restrictions.

This announcement has a different vibe about it. I believe this time will happen. The finance minister has already reported that the economy will not stand another year without tourism. The people here are geared up for this reopening. Let's hope I'm not wrong.

I think they’ve missed the boat for this year,most airlines haven’t booked a slot till next April.

And yet they haven't been announcing this every month. Apart from the PM statement a few months ago to reopen the country in 120 days this was his next public announcement. As he is the chair in both meetings to approve this it will very likely be approved. As you say the final details will come out over the next few days but it is an extremely positive move to get $$$$ back into the economy

Like “the boy who cried wolf” I am not believing anything they say until it happens anymore.

That's what happens why you hospitalize asymptomatic people who don't need to be hospitalized, you you out of beds...

@Garrett **********
it does seem crazy but Thai tend to say foek to the rules, so they quarantaine also the asymptomatic in order to protect society 😉🙏

@J**
Are you protecting the rest of society though when you don't have enough hospital beds for sick people because NON sick people are quarantined in them?

Biggest question is whether this is going to be sandbox model first or like how we partied in 2019

He didn't say anything about lifting restrictions in Bangkok like the curfew or alcohol ban, just removing the quarantine requirement for certain international arrivals.

I can't see a sandbox model working in a city like Bangkok. It only works in Phuket because it's an island.

@Garrett **********
curfew needs to be changed to like midnight to have any chance of economic revival.
