This doesn't mean anything, BUT it is a positive step with potential implications of no quarantine.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around recent announcements regarding the potential easing of quarantine measures for travelers entering Thailand amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Some comments express optimism that improved testing capabilities could eliminate the need for quarantine, while others remain skeptical, highlighting ongoing concerns about the accuracy of tests and the likelihood of renewed infections. Various opinions suggest that only certain groups may benefit from relaxed restrictions, and there is skepticism about the government's ability to manage a surge in arrivals.

No quarantine sounds so good โบ

I believe currently the Lab at Suvarnabhumi can only handle 200 tests per day.. However, a great innovative start. Maybe Heathrow might think of something similar or is their brain power already overstretched.

I donโt hear of any testing being done in Thailand for anyone. Once activity begins COVID-19 will be rampant

hysteria. The test is generic so if you had a cold ever you will test positive. Move into a bomb shelter seems to be your best option

Good idea, but testing at your departure airport would make more sense as you usually have to check in and wait a few hours before your flight. Also, if someone tests positive at arrivals, theyโd probably have to quarantine all the passengers on the same plane.

If Thais returning still need to do quarantine, foreign arrivals will, too.

Months ago everyone who flew into China was tested in 8 hours before entry, little behind the curve here but ahead of US, now the bureaucrats with their never-ending nationalist dream of Thailand for only rich foreigners need to step out of the way and reconnect Thailand to the world to restore 18% of the collapsed economy tied to foreign visitors and residents. Only private enterprise, not govt bureaucrats can accomplish this.

Reserve judgrment. Been here to long to believe much.
You're right, it means Nothing! The airport is just trying to push the govt into hurrying up acceptance of more arrivals. And God knows how they're gonna find room in that area for all the passengers waiting for their test results etc.

It was already insane when all they did was stamp your papers! That queue should be enough deterrent to keep everyone whoโs not already in the country out!
It's a phrase meaning it's not over until it's over!
You said it will be back, but in reality it hasn't gone away. It has been contained in Thailand, but it's still prevalent in most countries around the world.
Hence, the fat lady will not be singing anything for some time to come.

I'm not really sure where the "potential implications of no quarantine" are in this announcement!?
That's not true, that's misinformation. Blood tests will show the presence of the virus reguardless of symptoms. The older nasal swab tests took weeks to get results and were not very accurate.
blood tests are usually antibody tests, they less accurate and are used to establish prior infection in a population. There is a substantial window period with them and they won't show positive until many days after a swab will.
The airport isn't using blood tests, it's using PCR swab tests. These are more accurate and return a positive sooner but they are not a new test, they are what Thailand has been using since the start. They may just have sped it up a bit. I don't think it ever took "weeks" here though, maybe in the US in some places early on but it's a lot faster three now too.
"The lab is equipped to conduct polymerase chain reaction [PCR] tests, which provides up to 95 per cent accurate result within 90 minutes"
There is no indication that this will be a mechanism to skip quarantine, for the groups that require it. Maybe this is for the few day businessmen/government invitations who do get to skip it.
The only cases they have been having were found in quarantine. Basically it is they only thing they did that helped. They would be foolish to drop it so soon.
it is a 90 minute test vs 14 isolation vs not entering the country. The test will cost only B 3 k vs 14 day isolation of B 40 k to B 100 k+. For me it is like complaining about Thailands visa rules. It is their country and they make the rules. If a person do not like the rules they have choices, but please just stop complaining about everything (not you but foreigners in general). First foreigners complained that they could not enter the country, then they complained about the cost of isolation and the duration, now they are complaining about the 90 minute test.
