Rainy season is in full swing, personally one of my favorite times of the year in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The rainy season in Thailand is a favored time for many, appreciated for its cooling effect and improved air quality. Comments highlight the beauty of the season, particularly in regions like Chiang Mai, contrasting it with the challenges faced in Bangkok due to higher humidity and pollution. The weather dynamics are discussed, including variations across Thailand, with personal anecdotes about cycling in Doi Suthep and the cooler temperatures in October. There are also exchanges about photography, especially regarding capturing the rain, and discussions on different lifestyles between the cities.

Hope you don’t mind I did a tighter crop, just to see that downpour a little better
Thats the great thing about southeast Asia and really anyplace close to the equator, rain rarely lasts all day. Normally it will rain 5-10 minutes at a time 2-3 times a day during rainy season.
Snapseed is brilliant. Drives me nuts when people post an image on FB or elsewhere where it would have taken less than a minute to tweak it so the horizon is straight or the colours aren’t skewed or the like. While you’re at it check out Touch ReTouch. Instantly remove unwanted objects from a pic.
Hey Miguel, October is a good time to be here, weathers a bit cooler but not quite as cold as winter. Where in Thailand really depends on what you want though. City? Party? Beaches? Mountains? Authentic stuff? Girls?
I’m in Thailand now, but coming back after a new visa in October. I know what to expect of different cities in terms of lifestyle, I meant what part of the country suffers less from monsoon season in October. Sorry, I wasn’t clear.
I'm amazed at how many million people love Bangkok 555 you can have the traffic, the very high prices in the nice restaurants, and the very high humidity sticky feeling you get with their weather. Can't stand Bangkok. If that was my choice I would not live in Thailand :-)
you are correct !with one aspect of your comment. When you stop and think about it, when some guys have sex, they like to be urinated on, some guys like to be beat. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that guys like to pay too much money for what they buy and sweat like a pig when they walk down the street :-)
it’s actually more like not minding to pay more (it makes little difference to them) than actually like it, but I guess some might like to do it for status.
Not everything is more expensive in the capital, that’s just the caricature people like to wave around. I’m in the Chumphon Archipelago (Samui, Phangan, etc.). I wish taxis cost as little as in Bangkok. Accommodation is roughly the same.
it's not an aberration that it's more expensive in Bangkok. I'm glad you found a microcosm of economy. But the fact is it 20% more expensive to live in Bangkok than to live in Chiang Mai according to National Economic statistics. On top of that because of geography it is a fact that it's much more comfortable to live in Chiang Mai because Bangkok is just more humid and quite uncomfortable weather. Obviously millions of people prefer it, but I personally am still dumbfounded by their choice. But as they say in Thailand " it's up to you:-)"
yes! I'm amazed that people love to sweat while they're walking:-) and love to pay high prices:-) obviously millions of them do or they wouldn't live there. I'm still amazed at that. Just like New York City it's a hell hole. And I mean I hell hole. But millions of people absolutely love it. They can't even afford to live there and they live there :-) yes! That amazes me :-)

Stunning photo, hope it's a bit drier up on Doi Suthep when I cycle up there in November
These are the best months of the year with good air quality. In just a couple of months many people will start coughing and suffering from the air pollution again.
