Spent three days there last week. Way too much pollution, choking most of the time. I couldn't even see the mountains until the third day. It's a shame, didn't used to be like thisš¢ I was relieved to leave

Thai fear mongering so bad that even family gatherings mask upā¦ only hospitals mask up in East TN for over a yearā¦ masking is a fear derangement syndrome previously suffered only by hypochronics
Whilst cv19 can infrequently kill ā¦ a look at overall population death stats shows no uptick during cv19 yearsā¦ a 2yrs Cv19 survivorā¦ was like just a really bad flu..
Why not just organize a water fight at home and save 100s $? We used balloons and hoses, ready to rock in 5 minutes.

Chiang Mai is boring. Still life here 2 years. So qziet and boring nightlife. And the pollution is so strange that breathing feels heavy... Soon i will move to the south šš»š š
Pollution due to burning. Humidity is low these days, maybe 25-30%. Not that much more humid than a desert. Try June and then you can start talking about humidity in Chiang Mai. Now it's simply hot (and very dry).

Wow, Here in Phuket we didnt exactly follow the rules and there was water. The police came and said everyone must get a mask on and left. It was a blast!!! Sorry Garret but Id agree with Jason and unless tou got the number of that smiling girl with the tilted head....looks boring.

Totally agree!!! And before building huge hotels they must build the infastructure to support sewage and not just run it through a cement box into the sea!!! It could smell so much better.
The police actually expend resources to tell people to put their muzzles on, meanwhile doing jack all about the pollution problem?
I wouldn't have any problem if Thailand arrested and jailed every creep that dumped garbage where they shouldn't (I'm not talking about a cigarette butt or water bottle here...though that should be punished too) but rather, when construction waste is dumped on back alleys and in some cases even burned, in violation of no dumping signs.
I see. Either way, the paranoia is absolutely ridiculous.
Are you saying it's getting less bad now?
In my experience, I've noticed little difference but I've adjusted my lifestyle such that I don't need to have much interaction with the public so I'm mostly shielded from the worst excesses of this nonsense.
I go to my local park nearly everyday though and no one cares who wears a mask or doesn't wear one. About 60-70% of locals do, less than 50% of the Cambodian workers (and their children) do, despite being in a private location where it's unenforceable, but Thais are such hypochondriacs.
yeah I understand what you mean and the mass psychosis is still a thing especially if you go BKK but actually I see more and more people stopping doing all this stupid things
Like some time ago even almost all the joggers cyclists and ppl in gyms were masked up etc. Or the jewellers in BKK didnāt want to serve me - take a face mask if you want to enter š¤¦āāļø lol! I wanted to buy some stuff but if you insist I can do it somewhere else no doubt š¤·
Now itās not that bad, especially here in Pattaya. More and more people are starting to act like they are finally awaken and I hope the end of this madness is not that far š
Really? I find Thais do use seat belts (at least in the front seats). I haven't seen Thais widely disregard this law for some years now. 15-20 years ago, yes.
On the other hand, since I drive myself 99% of the time when in Thailand, I guess I haven't had the opportunity to observe Thais not wearing their seat belts for many years.
On the rare occasions I would take a taxi, van or other vehicle, mostly for work reasons, I've observed drivers and front seat passengers do wear seat belts nowadays.
Unfortunately, not much has changed when it comes to helmet usage, which is still absymally low, even in Bangkok it's much lower than it should be.

Looks boring. Keep following your little rules. Thailand is finished.
The one thing that sucks about Cambodia right now is it's lengthy quarantine (14 days) applied to the unvaccinated. If that were scrapped, I would be heading to Siem Reap right now.
Exactly. They lifted the mask mandate in 4 provinces 5 days ago and while it hasn't happened in Siem Reap yet, it's imminent. Within weeks, the whole of Cambodia will be back to 100% normal.
I didn't go out Wednesday, I did see all the water drama though. Thursday and Friday Chiang Mai deployed the military into the city to prevent anymore water splashing though. These photos were Friday night.
Locals masked. Farang no.. from these pics. Not surprising

The stupidest reasons are no reason to not follow the law in a country where you're guests. You're lucky they don't deport law beakers like those who keep posting ridiculous excuses.. I guess you're the same kind of people who drive drunk.
my wife is a Thailand citizen born and raised in Thailand she does not wear the mask. She knows that it's stupid right along with most of her Thailand friends. What do you think should happen to these Thailand people should they go to prison? LOL mellow out
In just saying these kinds of people were never wearing masks outdoors or indoors as I've seen.. they are anti social elements that are not good for Thailand
is your opinion speaking for the majority of Thai people it would be nice to know some truth and as far as being privileged most western people work more than 50 hours a week to afford to spend their money with you in Thailand I am eagerly awaiting your hot reply thank you xxx
Also, i noticed you arent wearing a helmet whilst riding your motorcycle? What did you say earlier? Something about respecting the law? š¤Øšš¤š¤š¤£
Can't take someone like that seriously. If he were at least consistent and wore both a helmet and a mask (he's doing neither in his profile pic) at least we wouldn't be able to call him a hypocrite, which he clearly is.
Many of the replies just prove my point about the arrogance of some farangs who feel priveleged to ignore laws in a country they are guests of. This arrogance is usually from Western white priveleged a holes.
Masks are so effective that Thailand has the 26th highest number of CV cases in the world and currently one of the highest death rates in the world despite being the country with the strictest mask mandate and highest adherence to mask wearing in the world, and a vaccination rate that is now higher than the USA.
If masks worked, why isn't Thailand down the bottom, along with Macau with 82 cases since January 2020? Why does it have 4,012,000 and counting?
How do you know they never ignored the mask rule in their own country as well as Thailand? It isn't just Thailand that have enforced a debunked rule that plenty of people ignore, and quite rightly too. Get off your high horse thinking you're an angel of the law by calling out others. Your profile is literally you sat on a motorbike without a helmet š
Thais in general have not a clue how Covid works. I have heard countless times two Thais saying something to this effect āitās raining outside better go in and get dry or risk getting Covid..āIāll respect their laws, but I know deep down there isnāt a whole lot of understanding about how viruses are caught..itās all wrapped up in superstition and hogwash mostly
my Thai neighbor has a heart attack 12 hours after getting vaxxed. 44 years old, no history of heart problems. Another Thai neighbor had a miscarriage 1 day after the Vax. Pfizer knew and loved about all the side effects and you still brag about the Vax. The sheep runs deep within you I see. Trust the gov, trust Pfizer says all sheep.
āPfizer knew and loved about all the side effectsā? What are you gibbering on about?? Let me guess you had eyes on a top secret internal memo from Pfizer and only you know the real truth? Make sure the aluminium foil is wrapped good and tight round your head so the satellites canāt listen to what you are thinking.
Let me guess, you got your booster shot and now you also support the current thing, which is Ukraine. I guess you also love Bill Gates, Fauci and Hilary Clinton. You hate Trump (even though he is pro vaccine), love Bernie Sanders and Justin Trudeau and believe all countries should follow the Chinese model and do a hard lockdown whenever there's a viral "epidemic".
And Brits are recognized the world over for theirsšCome on man! Did you expect me to refute that fact, get up in arms about your statement? Yea Simon, I know very well how yanks are viewedā¦.Hey! we learned from the best! š
plenty of stupid people the world over, admittedly āmerica seems to have so many they export them in droves. Making sweeping racist statements about the people in whose country you are residing is pretty much guarantee that the individual needs a horoscope reading.
. Again, we learn from the best..we have had very good teachers in that regardsā¦as for āsweeping racist statementsāā¦the hyperbole on that one is full on..

So insane behaviour is encouraged because most people do it .. right.
is not about being informed, or about what you personally think of the effectiveness of the masks, or nothing else, it's about respect. Respects to the locals. I am Farang tired of seeing 99% of other farangs wear no mask in places where mask is compulsory. I don't think masks are necessary neither effective but I do respect locals and as such, I don't feel comfortable not wearing the mask where all is mandatory. Like I said, it is about RESPECT.
I'm in Phuket now for over a month and the majority of the people I don't wear a mask and lots of them are Thailand people not wearing masks so why don't you chill out dude 555
, I am not defending folks not wearing masks, BUT, Thailand is waaay behind the rest of the world in this case. Most countries have done away with masks outdoors because most large parts of the populace are thrice vaccinatedā¦wearing masks outdoors is ridiculous anywayā¦
yourself. Ever jay walk? Ever seen a vehicle passed in Thailand on a solid line? Ever seen a Thai without a helmet? All illegal. For reference, what do you see wrong with the picture above?
Sam *********
Didnāt say that, just saying wearing masks outdoors is useless and itās time to get over the Covid fear. Why have vaccines if we still have to wear masksā¦outdoors no less
