TLDR : Answer Summary
As of yesterday, Bangkok immigration offices only accept extension requests 3 days prior to the visa's expiration date. This change has raised questions about appointment requirements and the implications if an extension is denied.

Is it 3 working days?

When visa expires on monday, can you go only friday?

@Elton ******
It sounds like they're asking people as opposed to it being a regulation. I'm sure if you go 1 week ahead of time they'll still process your extension.

So if your extension is refused it's already an overstay. Genius

@Dave ******
they'll sell you an 'extension denied' 7 day stamp to get the f*ck out of thailand :P
Have *******
At least they have a separate jail for immigration purposes

@Dave ******
yes. No room for error...yet immigration is not consistent with requirements.

Do I need an appointment to go in and get an instruction sheet for applying for a visa exempt extension or a non-o visa?

@Sc**
They were doing appointments, I think their online system broke again though.

This 3 day window is cutting things tight.

I'm looking to have something on paper for going to a bank to open an account so they know we are working towards a visa.

@Garrett **********
- for a visa exempt extension and non-o visa. I've always got our extensions in Jomtiem, but I don't know if Bangkok is different.

@Garrett **********
- I need an appt just to get a requirements list?
Garrett ***********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Sc**
No, you needed an appointment for extensions. What requirement list do you need?
Scot *******
@Garrett **********
- if the list is online, I haven't found it.

This is our groups website, I wrote this myself and use this bank personally. I opened a bank account with a tourist visa and an Airbnb booking.

Scot *******
And I don't have a tourist visa, I'm here visa exempt.

@Scot ******
Same thing. The bank couldn't care any less what you're doing here.

@Garrett **********
- OK I looked at your website, I will try that bank. I don't need a debit card, ATM is fine.
Scot *******
@Garrett **********
- that's definitely a variable, we've all had that conversation in here before, and some certainly feel otherwise. I hope you are right, but I will likely be hustling from bank to bank.

@Garrett **********
- I don't need a visa to get a bank account, I need a bank account to get a visa. I know that. I just wanted something to show the bank that I'm working to get a visa, someone suggested it before.

You don't need any visa to open a bank account, and immigration won't give you a certificate of residency without a Non-immigrant visa.
