A) The property is not licensed or whatever to be short stay.
B) Many AirBnB Hosts are only concerned with making a buck and don't care too much about the hostage (guest). They're not terribly concerned about working out things with Immigration.
AirBnB - are not legal in Thailand. If you are going to use them, say the host is a friend. So far, I have not any hosts that are keen to help with immigration issues. You'll need to check-in/extensions and you'll be required to prove where you are staying. Hotels do that for you. AirBnB - not likely to help you. Maybe you can find an AirBnB host that will give you the paperwork to do it yourself.
Some people checkin to hotel few days before their immigration business, do their immigration business, go back to AirBNB.
In the past I used bus tickets. I am pretty sure that is not currently an option. The issue you are likely to have is with the airlines. They sometimes will screen passengers at check-in/boarding to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork to enter the destination country.
I **think** you are not required to have onward travel if you have visa. It maybe the case you need to have onward travel for Visa Exempt (sometimes erroneously called visa on arrival).
If I felt like taking a risk and being cheap, I would show at the airport without onward travel. If I get stopped I would buy a cheap ticket from BKK to anywhere. Currently Singapore $100 from BKK (round trip). You wont use the ticket - so it doesn't need to be round trip or anyplace you want to visit.
If you shop around a bit, you maybe able to find an refundable option. Like if you buy from AirAsia - then sometime in the future you can change destination (from singapore to someplace local).
There are no direct flights from BKK to USA. It maybe worth while shop around for a ticket from any place to USA. Then buy cheap ticket from BKK to anyplace, with options to reschedule, refund, etc.
There used to be issues with using Transferwise for visa related stuff. Something to do with proving the funds are of a foreign origin. Something like, Transferwise uses a local account to transfer to your local account and that causes issues with immigration.
Honestly I do not have first hand information but it is another dimension for you to consider.
I know a guy that has a truck that moves people's stuff around. He has in the past moved my motorcycle from BKK to Pattaya. He gave me a quote for moving some furniture from Phuket to Pattaya. I am sure he can be help. PM me and I will find his line ID.
I suspect someone else in this group already knows his Line ID.
Trip adviser has always been pointless. They're driven by profit.
I have left several complaints each time I get dirty looks or the management have gone out of their way to be more accommodating.
Its entirely other thing to be harassing. How many bad reviews did the guy leave for the hotel??? How many times did he stay there? The hotel owner has a right to set their policies. We have the right to follow the policies or go to different hotel.
Only a fucking American (or maybe Russian) would go to a hotel and think they have the right to dictate policy. The should have sentence the American to serious community service.
