My DTV is with my old passport. I went to Hong Kong Thai embassy to ask for new passpot number change, but they told me to go back to the immigration in Thailand to ask for change it.
It's still ok to get in to the Thai boarder with DTV with my old passport and new passport?
Hi, have gone through the helpful discussions and useful comments extensively, but still have a couple questions causing some anxiety/confusion, so appreciate all assistance and advice for the below;
1) What is everyone using the cover letter for? Just explaining why they want the DTV? Or as a menu of their submitted documents or combination of both.
2) will be applying from Vietnam because went to my home base country & was they didn't process any DTV's there, so looking at Hanoi - any major cons/pros versus applying in HCMC?
3) does anyone have experience with multiple sources of remote income? (Ie: I tutor remotely and also work remotely for a company based in EU). Is it better to put just the company role? Or include both to show higher overall income?
4) can I start filling out the online portal with my documents before arriving Vietnam (but NOT submitting till after I’m in country) ?
5) and would a ready to start rental agreement for 6 months that is dated to begin for when I arrive in Thailand with the DTV ? (Have found a landlord and place to rent, but didn’t want to start prior to being approved)
*otherwise, I have 6-9 months of invoices/payments from both jobs & 6-9 months of more than the 500k required as well. Along with letter, contract etc from my employer and 4 months of invoices and matching payments from my remote tutoring. And will have ofc the hotel booking, and such paid and sorted before arriving in Vietnam.
Just arrived at Suvarnabhumi - short lines through immigration. I had a couple of short one week stays in 2025 and then one visa exempt 60 + 30 stay. IO asked to see proof of my flight out before the end of this 60 day visa-exempt visit. Provided and sent on my merry way.
Make sure you have the passport your DTV was applied for with you and make sure they stamp it 180 days! My passport expired..
Ok, so I'm used to visas being printed and stuck into my passport - old school maybe..
Anyhow, came here twice on my DTV, gave them my new passport, all the DTAC and DTV paperwork at immigration. Smiled, heard him stamp my passport, off I went.
Only to glance at my passport 50 days into a 70 day stay and noticed the last two VISA stamps were 60 day tourist visas. Went to a visa place. They charged me 4k bht and said all sorted.
Got to the new electronic passport control, red warming lights and off to immigration..
Long story short:
1) Visa firm had done nothing, no notes on record
2) Showed him my paperwork, correct DTAC with visa number entered on both occasions. And valid DTV
3) He asked to see my last passport, showed him a pic. All good.
He then advised me to bring both passports as the DTV visa is assigned to the old passport. (I can get that changed at the embassy apparently when I'm back)..
Told me to make sure they stamp it correctly...
Then stamped my passport and said "all done, have a nice day".
Bit stressful but easy enough to be fair. He said having all the paper visas helped a lot. So much for the visa company. Will be paying them a visit in four weeks wjwn I'm back.
If I was in Thailand in October for 4 weeks is it to soon to go back again for 60/90 days in January. Or should I apply for a DTV soft course or a ME Visa if I want to stay longer.
My first entry was on January 10th and I stayed for 13 days before flying to vietnam for a 10 day holiday .
I then re entered thailand on did 60 day + 30 extension and stayed a total.of 76 days
I returned to the UK for 2 months then entered again for 4 days before going to Vietnam for a 1 week holiday then entered thailand again for 14 days before going back to UK and not coming back to Thailand for 3 and half.months .
My last visit was from November 3rd to 23rd .
I don't live in Thailand I work offshore and visit thailand on a lot of my time off .
I only did the long 76 day stay as I fell sick in Thailand so couldn't return to work so extended my stay .
By the 10th January I would have been in Thailand a total of 152 days since I entered on 10 jan 2025 .
It's too late for me to get a visa before I fly now .
I intend to get a proper visa for next time .
Do.you guys think I will be ok entering this time ?
Hi all, I applied as a Singaporean as a freelancer in HCM and got it approved in about 3 weeks total.
For context, I was rejected twice in Singapore for insufficient funds. First time was my fault- I was trying my luck by submitting my investment accounts (they’ve stated they wont accept that) and second time I got rejected because the *final ending balance* for one of my bank statements did not meet the minimum requirement.
I was advised to apply outside of Singapore. This is the timeline and documents I submitted:
27 Nov evening: submitted all documents- with 3 months of bank statements.
1 Dec: asked for further documents: all passport pages, document describing my self employment, portfolio and resume, and proof of qualifications. (I am an online fitness coach)
2 Dec evening: submitted further documents.
8 Dec evening: status changed on the website from “pending document check” to “pending approval”
12 Dec 5:50pm: received email of approval and PDF of visa.
Total working days: 11 days.
It was definitely a nerve wracking experience, but I’m so happy to finally have obtained it. The wait may have been long but it was worth it. For those applying in HCMC, please be patient! If you meet all the requirements there should be no issue.
Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them.
