Many people have built houses here, wife can own land and you can lease house to protect yourself or have an usufruct. Research first great book from Building in Thailand group recomend to buy. Also another great group is Residential Construction for Expats Thailand

If your 6 on 6 off why not just go somewhere else for one six week rotation so you dont get to 180 days
