TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the severe consequences of overstaying a visa in Thailand, emphasized by an incident involving a foreigner arrested for a one-day overstay while on a motorbike. Comments from the community express a consensus that any overstay, regardless of duration, can lead to arrest and deportation, potentially including a lengthy ban from re-entering Thailand. Many commenters criticize the mentality of viewing minor overstays as acceptable, asserting that adherence to Thai immigration laws is crucial for all foreigners.

I am sure he was allow to book a ticket out on 1 day overstay. But the police don't ever passport for all the illegal Africans and working street indians that sell watches on soi 4. Stop trying to make farangs looks bad. We are not the issue.
no ,I am a motorcycle guy and although it’s about. 1 day overstay it just seems to me it’s profiling motorcycles riders as bad people,no offence intended
in no way was i intimating in any way that motorcycle riders are bad in any way. However as a car driver I have been stopped maybe twice in 20 years. That the bikes cop it is just fact. No offence taken.
it was from another forum "foriegn motorcyclists in thailand" the point of the post was about the deportation for one days overstay. You obviously either never read what i said or didnt understand it
of course even 1 day... where would you like the line to be drawn after you have not adhered to the Immigration rules? 10 days? maybe you think 25 days?
yes Sir. That's what the rules say. You CAN get deported. If you can show a flight ticket with a departure date of the same day or next day, you can expect some leniency. But it is not guaranteed

This is standard protocol if the police catch you in overstay.

Fantastic. Hope the pathetic POS is never allowed to come back to Thailand again.
I’m sure he will spend longer than usual in immigration detention center as his paperwork is approved for departure

100%... many people give to advice that it is 'ok' to overstay a few days.. just pay the 500thb fine per day when leaving... they fail to mention what will happen 'if' they are pulled up by the BiB... sounds like this guy is going to deserve his nice red stamp.
Got to admit used to do it on purpose before to avoid long departure queues at airports. Just headed straight to officer and say on overstay was quicker than the queues.
unless you drive a vehicle, or you get visited due to an overstay, the chances of being asked by police to show your passport on the street to prove legal status are close to 0.
