Non O visa marriage applicant 😢 Skip the 40k income documents. Just came back from Chaengwattana Immigration and they’ve confirmed they are only accepting the 400,000 THB deposit for Non-O Marriage extensions/renewals now.
Doesn't matter what the latest article says—the officers at the desk have the final word.
*take a look at the photo and the officer specifically highlighted that to me before asking me to leave and come back with 400k baht deposit *
What I have :
- Thailand company employment letter
- tax pnd 91 form
- tax Tawi 50 form
- bank statement proof I have a Thai company crediting salary into Thai bank every month > 40k baht income

Answer summary
Recent discussions at Chaengwattana Immigration indicate that the requirement for extending a Non-O Marriage visa has changed. Expats applying for this visa are now being informed that they must provide a deposit of 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account, a departure from the previous option of demonstrating a monthly income of 40,000 THB. This change seems to be enforced strictly at the Chaengwattana office, with comments noting that other immigration offices may have differing requirements. Documentation and confirmation from a Thai employer for the 40K income method are no longer accepted, leading to confusion among foreign applicants who are accustomed to different practices from various embassies.

I had non o family last year based on 40k income. This year they didnt accepted it. They wanted the 400k in bank. So i guess new rules
40K/month works when you have a job and work permit in Thailand because you then have a tax document from your employer to confirm that you earn 40K a month.
Ryan Sze Did you have other support documents and letter from the company? I can check with her (C1) tomorrow whether they really stop 40K method for changing visa.
You say that you are Malaysian and that your embassy no longer issues the income document. And at the same time you say skip the document, they confirmed they don't accept it anymore? So what is it? You didn't bring it but just asked them about it then?
My income document was fine, Dutch embassy, legalized document, two weeks ago.
Jordi Jansse if Dutch embassy issue the income guarantee letter, then you are good. So far malaysia, US, UK and Canada embassy no longer issue such letter. I don't have the full list of embassies practice unfortunately 🙄
That is very true. This was two weeks ago btw. Different immigration, different rules...But yeah, we always check before and next year it will be bank account since the document is a lot of hassle. But couldn't put the money in the account on time this year.
the problem is that things change. What worked before might not work the next time. It's a good idea to check the requirements every time you need to apply for an extension
yeah.. Thanks for adding the point. Maybe I'm still sad that I don't have 400k baht with me currently despite earning and income of > 40k baht / month in Thailand
Jordi Jansse no.. I think you got me wrong. There's plenty of article and post mentioning we can provide income source verify by thai company and also tax departments with a 40k income. But this route no longer exist... That's why I'm sad now. Don't be too sensitive please 😅
I think he's saying that previously if you could show you earned a minimum of 40k baht per month inside Thailand that was enough for extension purposes but that is no longer the case
Ryan Sze You make no sense to me. You didnt have the document (embassy didnt give it anymore) and now you are making fuss about them (the immigration) not accepting it. What is there to accept if you dont have it anyway? You lost me.
Ryan Sze yes I know how it works ive been doing it for nearly a decade. As I said i didn't have any issues last month.
Is your income from work in Thailand or is it remitted to Thailand from abroad & are you married to a Thai? (Just trying to figure out what the difference is/if there is any difference)
Alexey Shipulin Samut Prakan is not CW & IT doesn't matter what the website says too as each immigration officer/office has discretion on what is allowed. CW & most offices will only allow use of the 40k+ deposit method if the funds are from legal work within Thailand.
เดแคลน คอนนอลลี่ again let me repeat.. If you work in Thailand with income of 40k, this rule is no longer being accepted. The only requirement is 400k baht deposit
Alexey Shipulin I went to Chaengwattana immigration today and spoke to 2 officer at counter C1😢.. If we can't pass document check at counter c1, we won't be able to proceed to the next step
Alexey Shipulin I'm a malaysian.. Embassy no longer issue any letter to guarantee our income. I believe there are multiple post on this too which are related to US, UK, Canada etc embassy. No more income guarantee letter 😔
Ryan Sze Yes I understand you 100%. Thank you for your reply and try to get new 90 days e-visa abroad if not enough time to keep 400.000THB now. Sorry...
This is now fairly well known and applies in several locations. Monthly transfers have also been removed from the regulation, and there have also been cases where embassy income affidavits are no longer accepted. That effectively leaves either 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account or income earned in Thailand.
Jan Kenneth Nesland Not removed. I work with Immigration for other people and I am married 8 years. Nothing changed for now. I think it was misunderstanding or no certificate (affidavit) or local transfers. I had similar situation last year and officers called their boss to know.
Alexey Shipulin I’m not sure which immigration office you are referring to, but at the main immigration office in Bangkok this has been removed from the regulation. If you look at the handouts provided at several offices, for example Jomtien, you will see the same.
