Hello, everyone. I may have joined the wrong group cause I’m a short-timer/1st timer for pleasure in Thailand for 12 days. Got an easy question for you - do I need to get a visa in advance or can I get it once I arrive in the airport of the plane?

Is there a cost and what information will I need to successfully get through entry into the country? Again, my apologies if I’m wasting your time. Thanks.
Answer summary
If you are a US passport holder visiting Thailand for 12 days, you do not need a visa in advance. On arrival, you will receive a stamp allowing you to stay for 60 days. You are required to complete the Thai Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours prior to your arrival, which can be done online or upon arrival at the airport. It is essential to have your accommodation details and flight information available when filling out the TDAC.

The TDAC that everyone keeps mentioning is just a digital version of the old card system they used to hand out on planes before landing, the ones that required you to fill in with a pen that you could never find ha ha ha, don't stress it. It takes a couple of minutes on your phone and can be completed while you're in line waiting for an immigration officer to call upon you. Have a safe trip.

Brian Tillman As someone already pointed out, it doesn't matter what country you're coming from. it's the passport you present to the Immigration Officer.

You could have googled that in half the time it took to type your post and got a proper answer as well

Russell Boyman Yes, and the Washington embassy has a better web page about this than most Thailand embassies. I still sympathize with the feeling that maybe the embassy information does not explain it all (in particular that TDAC is to be submitted WITHIN 72 hours).

Johan E. Bengtsson TDAC is required on arrival. You can fill it out from up to 72hrs before arrival and as late as at the arrival. Can do on your phone or on the kiosk just before immigration counters on arrival.

Johan E. Bengtsson maybe, but the TDAC has nothing to do with your visa anyway. Nevertheless- If its not submitted prior, youll have questions to answer from Immigration anyway.

As everyone said. No visa needed if you are a us passport holder (and many other countries). Currently it’s 60 days visa exempt (they are talking about lowering it to 30 days, but that would not affect you either). When you arrive, you go straight to immigration, not visa on arrival. That is for countries that are not eligible for visa exempt.

As everyone said above, fill out the TDAC three days or fewer before arriving. You can do it on arrival as well but then you have to wait in line. TDAC is 100% FREE so if it’s asking to charge you anything you’re on the wrong website. Only use the official Thai government one.

It looks like you are from the US so if you hold a US passport all you have to do is file a TDAC within 3 days of arrival. You will get stamped in for 60 days
