Just curious if anyone has real experience with this.

I’ve seen some posts claiming that if you arrive in Thailand with a business class ticket, immigration is much more relaxed and it basically guarantees entry without questions, even if you’ve stayed in Thailand a lot before.

Has anyone here actually tested this? Is it true or just a myth?
Answer summary
The belief that arriving in Thailand with a business class ticket guarantees an easier immigration process is largely considered a myth. Many respondents shared their experiences indicating that immigration officers do not typically check the class in which passengers traveled. While business class may provide access to fast track lanes, this does not affect the scrutiny or questions received from immigration, which are based more on the traveler's overall visa status and behavior rather than ticket class.

Unless you are or have been abusing the visa exempt rules, you won’t have problems with immigration.

I don’t know where you are coming from but a business class flight from Australia is at least $2000- $4000 more than an economy class ticket.

Before you leave your home country, a few hundred dollars and some time, you can get a Non O Visa and you will have no problems with immigration.

If you want to spend time in Thailand get an appropriate visa, no problems.

I arrive on a business class ticket and used the special lanes. Not a single question, where as a few previous visa exempt entries were getting a little pushback. The very next entry was normal lanes after a 5 day trip to penang with my gf. I was denied, even though I had a flight back to my home country in two weeks. IMO business class gets less scrutiny. I used to get upgraded often while doing the 28 day FIFO stuff. If the normal queue was quiet then I'd use it and save my Fast Track voucher for another time. Having said that, I did get upgraded once while already on the plane from Economy to Business. I went through the Fast Track and the boy asked to see my ticket. I don't think business class affects immigration much. They focus more on where you're coming from. Business class usually just gets you faster airport processing (like security or check-in). If anything, they'd notice if someone seemed suspicious, regardless of ticket.

It’s a myth.

I did a visa run to Kuala Lumpur just before Christmas on a business class ticket.

I was still interrogated by the Immigration Officer at Don Mueang about the purpose of my trip, asked to prove I had a ticket booked to leave Thailand within 60 days and told to get a visa before I came back again…which I am now in the process of doing.

You have to accept that the immigration process in Thailand is consistently inconsistent.

There is the documented Thai immigration law and then the reality that every individual Thai Immigration Officer and Immigration Office interprets the law in their own way.

Within the space of three days I got very different responses from the Thai embassies in London and Ho Chi Minh City and the Immigration Office in Ubon Ratchathani regarding what I had to do to marry my Thai fiancée and then obtain a Thai marriage visa.

In 35 years in the computer and electronics industries I have travelled all over Asia, the Americas, Western and Eastern Europe and in my experience Thailand is the only country that allows their individual Immigration Officers so much latitude in deciding if they are going to allow you in to the country or not.

It’s ironic that a country which is so economically dependent on foreign visitors and ex-pats bringing their money here, makes it so difficult for us to do so.
Wayne *******
Wayne *******
Alistair John Grant Alistair everyone knows now that Thai immigration have been told start reviewing entry more harshly than before.

It’s entirely up to Thai immigration officer they call it at their discretion but if they want to be picky that’s their right to do so it’s the policy now being implemented.

Everyone who has done their due diligence knows what’s happening within Thailand and if they don’t more fool them.

In regards to embassies overseas every embassy is not same although they are the same country. You will find an overseas embassy sometimes more difficult due to their internal policy.

It’s not based on individuals per say.

You use Thailand as an example as inconsistent immigration laws which is so narrow minded.

If you have travelled there are potential pitfalls everywhere around the world.

Just remember Thailand has been so lenient in regards to their policies and that’s all changing moving forward.

You have to just accept it and move on.

You are confusing security people (the people there to screen you through customs) with the person you hand your passport and any applicable visa documentation to.

Mary ********
Mary ********
Michael Lucken I show my ticket to the AIRLINE - not immigration. Immigration doesn't care what part of the plane you sit in when you arrive.

The essential documentation you are required to show at immigration is:

Essential Documentation Checklist (Effective May 1, 2025):

Passport: Must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): The new mandatory digital replacement for the paper TM6 card, obtainable at {Link: official Thailand Digital Arrival Card website
*******************************
}. Print or save the confirmation QR code.

Visa: A visa stamp in your passport or proof of visa-exempt status (check requirements based on your nationality).

Proof of Accommodation: A booking confirmation (hotel, apartment address, or letter from a host).

Proof of Onward/Return Ticket: Proof that you intend to leave the country within the allowed time. Please note this is not for the plane you just flew in on - it is for your outgoing flight.

Proof of Sufficient Funds: (Less common, but possible) Immigration may request evidence of at least 10,000–20,000 THB to support your stay.

And LOL at the "You have obviously never flown BC" that's hilarious.

You ASKED, in reference to using Fast Track, "so how would they know which class you flew in on?"

I suggested you would show them your boarding passes.

So please explain what is it I'm missing. TIA

And btw, there are DIFFERENT lines for Fast Track, & you can go to either one. But, when you get on the FT line, there is (usually ?) someone there who basically checks that you are on the correct line, to SAVE you time if you're not entitled to be there and need to go to the "regular" immigration lines, i.e. before you GET to a FT IO.

Whether or not they'd ask to see your proof of being allowed in FT, or whether your word would be good enough to stay on that line, IDK, but when you DO get to the IO, they WILL ask to see your proof/permission to use FT.
Mary ********
Mary ********
Fraser McIlwraith If you say so lol but I have literally never needed it, while I may fly business class - I'm not a self entitled type so don't pay attention to these sorts of things. In saying that - showing someone a ticket at the entrance of customs and immigration doesn't mean your IO is going to know that you queued up to fast track versus cattle class since the lines normally merge so they don't see that ticket nor know which queue you were in. When you travel light like I do, the rest of you lot are all waiting on baggage while I am sailing through before the crowds hit. It's amazingly easy and quick.
Fraser ************
Fraser ************
Mary Gerber if you travel business class that often then you would know that you have fast track entry and get a much shorter line at immigration. You do that by showing your boarding pass when you join the shortened queue with Thai nationals. The priority lane at passport control is never more than a couple of people. That’s how immigration knows that you’ve flown business class.

Jo Clemente since I live in Thailand (on a retirement visa) and always get my re-entry stamp prior to travelling overseas, I've never had a flight disembarkment / customs clearance that took more than a few minutes. It helps that I travel with minimal luggage - usually just carry on. It probably does help that I do fly business class, as we are normally in the first 10 or so people to get off the plane, but that still doesn't change the fact that none of the IOs processing me asked to see my boarding pass of the plane I just got off, nor would they know where I sat on the plane lol.

From multiple experiences; there’s a separate immigration line for business class an it’s super short (like 7 people instead of 700). However the immigration checks are the same; I was asked for a printout of my health insurance on an O-A entry. They were very polite but wanted to see the contract not just a coverage screenshot. Having said that, obviously if you have an income based visa, they’re likely to scrutinize you less given that your ticket is 5x of economy.
