TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion reflects concerns over Thailand's response to regional travel dynamics amid COVID-19. Comments indicate uncertainty about when tourism will resume, with expectations for significant visitor arrivals possibly in September or October. New entry requirements, including quarantine measures and costs, are cited as obstacles, along with the complexity of gaining permission to enter based on familial or business reasons. Users express frustration over the slow reopening process and highlight the broader quarantine situation affecting travelers across the region.

I back in Aust now and I told my son it will be a year . People keep talking about Thailand quarantine. But it's not just about thailand quarantine .it's about everybody else is quarantine. I am hoping for March 2021.

but it says this "Foreign visitors can now enter the country if they agree to pay S$684 for half of the cost of their accommodation in hotels, where they will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival. "

yes but you need permission and a reason. It was explained more in Singapore to visit family or if you have buisness interests there. Which a lot of people do here

I'm thinking September, at the earliest, for any significant number of tourist arrivals. Maybe October. Hope they do something about getting the split apart farang/Thai families back together sooner.

Emirates planes are already flying to Thailand and only U.K. and American citizens can fly to ten different destinations on the way to Australia

I got the email last week to say Emirates is open for flights again

But Thailand has introduced new entry requirements and any country available to enter you need to know requirements before booking flights

Meanwhile they are pushing Thais to spend their money on domestic tourism, offering incentives if they cancel their international bookings and spend the money in Thailand.

And guess what? The hotels have the same rates as before the Covid. No discounts no efforts to win the heart of the customer.

Please, can't you see this is just another opportunistic rip off?
