I made two posts about obtaining an O-visa and extention and in both I was shot down by a number of people whilst detailing my lived experiences. Thought I was being helpful telling the truth.

Well today I have my year extension and reentry permit. No serious issues and no expensive agents to circumnavigate or cheat the system .

Wish anyone doing the same well, do not be discourage.

I will however give you two pieces of advise:

1. Make sure any photo copies you present are clear

2. Make sure the last entry in your bank book is either a deposit, preferred or withdrawal on the day you submit it with the letter from the bank.
Answer summary
The author shares their successful experience of obtaining a Non-O visa extension and reentry permit in Thailand, despite previous negative feedback on their posts. They emphasize two key pieces of advice: ensuring that photocopies are clear and that the last entry in the bank book shows a recent deposit or withdrawal. Several comments highlight the variability between different immigration offices, with insights on their procedures, the importance of asking for checklists, and the overall experience of expats navigating the visa process in various provinces.

I knew I would apply for a marriage visa this time, so when I was over in December I asked the office what I needed. They gave me a printed A 4 sheet and said if I have everything on there I will be ok. I got a call yesterday telling me my visa is ready to collect. I am off in 30 minutes to get it.

My local office is Kalasin who I have always found very helpful if you ask and don’t assume.

1. Pics should be in color, that’s what required for visa based on marriage.

The visa agents don't cheat or circumvent the system . All involved get their palms greased including the the office you have to go too.

Good for u to do your extensions without any issues.....your sharing of experience will be great for those who are trying to do the extension themselves....ignore the negative comments they are not worth your time

In CR they have checklists available with the relevant requirements, printed on colored paper and every year a different color so one knows its the latest. I always get one at my 90 day report before I need to extend my stay.

With all these things, comments and pieces of advice the most important factor is often, which immigration office.

Having gotten visas and extensions at 7-8 different provinces and offices over the years they all have different procedures and policies. And of course, this being Thailand, those procedures and policies change regularly too.

Congratulations on getting your extension with no issues.

I'm in the process of getting onto a Non-O 12 month extension in a new province too.

Justin Hollebon from the posts I gather that is true. Mine is in Isaan and to be honest over the years not a lot has changed procedure wise. Very helpful and polite.

Farang Walking I have been doing all my extensions in the same Province ( Nan) since I arrived in Thailand and never had an issue until today when I went to do my 90 day report. They now want a copy of the page in my passport with the e-visa when I arrived, first time I have been asked for that.

Farang Walking Yeah I've found the Isaan offices (namely Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen and next door in Phetchabun) pretty easy going and relaxed compared to other offices, including the province I've recently moved to and getting my extension from 😅
