Can someone explain that this stamp means my friend's visa on arrival stamp is for 60 days , the reason for my query is that on the Thai Immigration website ,his country is only allowed 15 days VOA.
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around a passport stamp that grants a 60-day stay for a Papua New Guinea (PNG) citizen upon their arrival in Thailand. This seemingly contradicts the official Thai immigration website, which states that PNG nationals are entitled only to a 15-day Visa on Arrival (VOA). Comments clarify that, as of recent updates, PNG passport holders are eligible for visa-exempt entry for 60 days. There's further conversation about the misprint in the stamp's date, and users emphasize the importance of ensuring stamps are correct upon entry to avoid issues with overstaying.

Il y a une erreur de date sur le tampon, ne surtout pas en tenir compte car dans leur ordi, y a pas d'erreur de tampon, j'ai eu la même surprise il y a 14 ans

Yes, as of March 2026, citizens of Papua New Guinea are entitled to visa-exempt entry into Thailand.

Following a major policy update in July 2024, Papua New Guinea was added to the list of 93 countries and territories eligible for the Thai Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme.

Key Details for Your Trip:

Duration of Stay: You can stay for up to 60 days per entry for tourism or short-term business engagements

Because the entrance stamp is counted as Day 1 and the permission to stay is day 60.If you arrive in Thailand on any given day and get your passport stamped at 23.59and leave the next morning at 01.00 immigration classes it as 2 days.Thats how they work.

Papua New Guinea (PNG) is listed under multiple categories of Thailand's various Visa schemes, like China and other countries

China is also still Visa on Arrival ( VoA 15 Days "TR 15" ), Bilateral Visa Exemption ( ผผ.30 ), and Tourist Visa Exempt ( ผ.60–ม.17 )

in instances where a Passport is eligible for multiple Visa schemes, as always, it is up to the discretion of the Thai Immigration Officer at Entry to Permit Entry into Thailand, but the most advantageous visa is usually given, for example, South Korea, Brazil, and Peru are usually given 90 Days Stay under Bilateral Visa Exemption ( ผผ.90 ), even though they are also eligible for Tourist Visa Exempt 60 Days ( ผ.60–ม.17 )

Again, for example, China, Kazakhstan, and Russia are eligible for Visa on Arrival ( VoA "TR 15" ), Bilateral Visa Exemption 30 Days Stay ( ผผ.30 ), and Tourist Visa Exempt 60 Days ( ผ.60–ม.17 ) are usually given Visa Exempt Stamp ( ผ.60–ม.17 )

he is elegible for a visa exemption. He got correctly stamped in for 60 days. However the red stamp is smeared a bit, so it appears as if the year is 2025. It however it clearly says 2026. No worries, nothing needs to get corrected
John ********

Red year date is an error , should read 2026 , the exit date then would be correct on a 60 day . Shouldn't worry assuming you entered 26Feb 2026 !

If it is an error by the IO then best u go back and correct it...

There has been cases where incorrect stamps has been issued and overstay fines have been issued.. Its the passport holders responsible to have the correct dates..

Looks like 2025 till 2026

Hard to read but looks list a 60 day Stamp until 26 April 2026. What country of passport? Did you have a visa? What day did you arrive? Could be a misprint on the arrival stamp (Looks lije 26 Feb 2026. (Not a major issue as the Immigration Computer would have it recorded correct. I assume you arriaved on the 26 Feb 2026
