TLDR : Answer Summary
The Special Tourist Visa (STV) is now available for all nationalities seeking to travel to Thailand, but discussions around quarantine requirements and overall safety during the pandemic dominate the conversation. Users express varied opinions on the necessity of quarantine and discuss the length and conditions of the STV, including extensions up to 9 months. Some users inquire about the specifics of transitioning from other visa types and the overall process of securing a long-term stay in Thailand, reflecting the need for clearer communication from Thai authorities regarding visa regulations.

Hi, if I have a short 1h30 min layover in Bangkok en route to the Philippines, do I need to present travel documents and/or negative COVID PCR certificate?

Yup I believe so as long as it‘s not more than 12 hours. I’m actually wondering if it’s considered as transit since I’m not switching to a different plane. Not sure whether we‘ll go through passport control, present travel requirements or something.

I really can’t imagine what holidaying people would want to go through this. And my experience after getting here through ASQ just to see my son has been an absolute nightmare and the way I’ve been treated is no better than a dog.

have fun. Make sure your ASQ is good. Check the reviews because spending more doesn’t mean it’s good. 16 days can feel like a long time if it’s bad. And I wanna say that Thailand has probably changed a bit since you were last here. I’m looking to leave as soon as I can.

Preperation is the Key. If staying in cheap ASQ bring items can snack with and cook with kettle.

Do things to occupy your mind. Spend an hour a day learning a language. Plenty to do. I work on ships and offshore and we are usually in cabins the size of bathrooms in the ASQ

Easy plan ... test all that travel to Thailand before The AirPort and At The AirPort ... then a Quick test at Thai AirPort ..

If positive no travel ..

If negative no quarantine ..

This pandemin is just a power grab plan .. my opinion / you may have your own !

So much scaremongering ..

They have good tests now .

We live in a world of viruses and bacteria that are much more scary than covid ..

Flu outbreaks Every Year and much more ...

So let us get on living Not cowering on our own somewhere !

Anyway .. that is why there Should be triple Testing over time .. just in case ..

And It is Not The Number of cases that are important !

It is The Number of sick people and those who dies. There are much better therapeutics Also .

99.5 % survives !! Or most don’t even need hospital care !

That is Not a pandemic in my view !

well you aren’t the leader of Thailand so let them carry on as they are. We are triple checked. One test in our home country and 2 in quarantine. Having 3 tests in the space of 2-3 days is pointless

What a suprice no tourist are arriving ...

The Ones in charge here must really be living in a world of their own!

To start with - the world is all covered in a pendamic, and the main message from mostly all governments around the world is to stay Home and keep distance from everybody, and People are following and doing what they have been told!

Second, the way Thailand have behaved here from the start of the pendamic with diffrent message almost daily about visas, restrictions, "dirty farangs" and so on ...

... has not really made anybody feel comfort about What is really clear, "What Do I need to do to stay in Thailand"?

one of the main reasons I want to go to Thailand right now is because they have control of the situation. If they open without quarantine I wouldn't bother going, seen as they'd end up in the mess we find ourselves in Europe/US with lockdowns and restrictions.

not sure where you are getting your information from, but the Australian government health department information, states that vaccination will begin for Australians in March 2021 and will initially only be available for healthcare and other frontline workers in addition to the elderly and medically vulnerable. It is anticipated that by the end of 2021 all Australians will have access to the vaccine. I think it's very unlikely that any vaccinated Australians will be travelling here in January

I can't see Australians being permitted to holiday in Thailand in January. There are still 36,000 Australians outside Australia waiting for quarantine places in Australia. Can't see them adding hordes of tourists to that number, nor can I see Australia dropping hotel quarantine for returning Australians until maybe the third quarter of 2021
