@Heather *****
Ive only ever seen once case of where someone was refused an extension - and that was because they were on some “unwanted in Thailand” list.

If you get in you’ll get an extension.

Whether they will allow you in is up to the immigration officer, but if you’ve been away 2 years I don’t think they will suspect you of working here (one of the main reasons why they would deny entry).

You don’t mention your nationality, but if you are from one of the 92 countries allowed for a visa exempt entry then you don’t need to get a visa at all.

You’ll get 60 days on entry and can extend that once for 30 days. You can then bounce out and back and repeat.

It’s valid for 5 years. You need to use it within that time.

@Elías *******
Yes. That seems to be the case for now. Time will tell if things change on the rules.

Sure why would anyone bother. Just do a border bounce. The interviewee was from MFA I believe. Completely separate government department to immigration.

We will have to wait and see. It’s going to be 4 months or so before anyone is close to applying for an extension.

Jared Elliott A divisional commander at immigration during a training session for volunteers. I do not have a written source, but i know

has the Thai text somewhere.

Be careful advising that an extension is only 1,900 baht. We are awaiting written confirmation but immigration sources have said the extension is 10,000 baht as per the Thai text on the visa details.

As
@El***
mentioned you can send a friend to report for you. If that doesn’t work out for you it really isn’t a big issue. Sure you’ll get a fine for a late report, but it’s a 2,000 baht fine if you’re 8 days late or 8 months late. Don’t fret.

You can’t do a 90 day report on an initial Non O visa as you can’t stay more than 90 days. When you apply for your first year extension then they will probably put a small piece of paper in your passport showing when your first 90 day report is due.

Bypasses the 220 baht fee charged by the ATM. Not all branches will do this but some do.
