What are the new 90-day reporting rules for expats in Phuket with extensions from other provinces?

Heads up for those of you in Phuket.

If you’ve had your extension from a different province (I.e you used an agent) you are no longer able to do 90 day reports online. They will reject the application.

You must file in person at either Phuket Town (drive through or Room 101), or the Patong Beach office or the Blue Tree Water Park office.

As far as I know this policy is ONLY for those living in Phuket. If you are aware of similar rules in another province then please let us know.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats in Phuket should be aware that if their extension was obtained from a different province, they can no longer complete their 90-day reports online. Instead, they must file in person at designated offices in Phuket, such as the drive-through in Phuket Town or at Blue Tree Water Park. This policy has also been reported in Chiang Mai, indicating a broader trend affecting expats depending on their extension's origin.

Can’t say why the new rule is in force. Just that it is. No issue doing it in person at Blue Tree, Patong, the drive through in town or room 101 in town.

Why don't the agents get a visa in your province?

My understanding is because they have an arrangement with certain immigration offices. I think if you're residing in the north east or parts of the north, then you may be located in a province where such an arrangement exists. However, Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket (among others) are quite strict and thus such arrangements don't exist with them or they have other more shadowy arrangements in place with these offices.

Wasn't this always the case? Normally, your agent would do the TM47 90 day report on your behalf anyway and this would be done at the office you got your extension at.

No. perhaps some agents would do it for you but usually you’d do it yourself. As long as a TM30 was filed in Phuket you can do the 90 day report. Except now you can’t.

Hmm, interesting. Anyway, thanks for the update.

Thank you for the timely information Stuart!

Thanks Stuart! That would be me, but I can go to the drive through. NP

If your agent sent your passport to Tak immigration, you can no longer get a reentry or renew a year visa in Bangkok despite you have sufficient financial funds. Once they find out you didn't show up at Tak, they stop dealing with you in Bangkok. 90 day in Bangkok is possible but you need to register your tm.30.

Didn't know agents were using Tak (meaning Mae Sot) but either way, didn't know that immigration in another province would deal with your 90 day report since normally agents can do the 90 day report for you via the province that you got your extension from.

That’s well known that if you go down the agent route you’ll not be able to get another extension without using the agent again. Unless you exit and re-enter on a “clean” stamp.

Things appear to be getting tougher. I'm glad I managed to get my 12 month extension at local immigration last time. It actually saves me time driving the 80km to do 90 day report in person rather than struggle for most of the day trying to get on line system to work and failing.

maybe give the online reporting another shot. It's very reliable now. Takes about a couple of minutes

Got it. this link does not ask for tm6 number.

Very reliable ? How you report the visa you are on ?? There is no box for it 🤣
Nick ************
@Nigel ********
its rather odd because last time I tried it asked for my tm6 number which I dont have. Could not proceed. Then someone sent me a link to a near identical page that did not ask for tm6 number. The time before I was rejected because I had stayed in a hotel and my address did not tally. I wont need to do another until December as I am going back to UK and will have to do that in person I beleive after updating tm30.

still asking for tm6 number. Now I can't find the site that didn't ask for it.

Chiang Mai is the same, they won't give you any services (cert of residency, 90 day, ext) if you extension is from another province.

In Phuket they’ll do a cert of residence as long as you have a filed TM30 in Phuket.
Richard *********
Are you sure <

what if you filed a new tm 30 for phuket.?

that sucks

yes. Confirmed directly with immigration.

Yeah but an agent (meaning pretty much anyone ) could do it on your behalf or you could do it via mail (post).
