Recently the online TM30 system has changed. It now has an ability to “export” (why they didn’t use the word “print” is beyond my levels of reasoning) a PDF document that you can print to use at your local immigration office as needed.
You enter the person staying details as per the required fields (marked with a red asterisk) and submit.
You then search for the inputted information (as long as it’s within 7 days of entry) and next to the persons name is a magnifying glass icon. Click on that and a full screen pops up with their entry details. At the bottom is a button labelled “export” (WTF not use the word print?). Press that and a PDF popup appears allowing you to print the information.
For now most offices will accept a printed screenshot of the inputted information. Now that a print out is available that may change in the future.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 online system has recently introduced an 'export' feature that allows users to generate a PDF document of their filing for local immigration office use. Users enter details of the person staying, submit the information, and can then export a PDF which can be printed. This update enhances usability but has sparked a discussion on the choice of the term 'export' instead of 'print', which some users find confusing, especially for non-native English speakers. As for current practices, most immigration offices will accept either a printed screenshot or the new PDF printout.
I personally use tm30.io which was easy to use to register property and upload passport. It has been accepted by local immigration to renew my Visa extension last week. A print out is easy to obtain.
I didn’t intend this post to be a debate about the wording of “export” over “print” but whatever floats your boat you can now print a copy of your TM30 filing. I personally don’t agree with the word “export” but that’s my personal opinion. Others may have their own.
I get the term “export” is valid in computing terms. I get that you can change “formats” from one medium to another so it’s technically a valid term. Except that the vast majority of people using the system aren’t native English speakers and are probably not familiar with the term.
Export is a commonly accepted computing term for transforming your data into another form that you can use/download (PDF for printing, maybe Word or Excel in fhe future, etc)
Yes it doesn’t mean print, but it’s a valid computer term and it serves the purpose here, coz in the future they may not only export PDF for printing. I agree some IT terms can be confusing though.
