What is the current status of the 45-day visa exempt entry for arrivals in Thailand?
30 minutes to go and as far as we can tell there has been no official confirmation regarding the change to 45 days for visa exempt arrivals (30 for VOA).

On 7 October, at Suvarnabhumi Airport, I received a 45-day stamp in my passport good for 45 days and expiring November 20, 2022. I was coming from NY City via Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific (not that I think the flight matters much), and I used a USA passport. (Online information was suggesting that overland entry stamps will still be only 15 days, I think, which is a difference in treatment that I still do not understand....)

That is excellent news. Because from southern Thailand (where I used to live) sometimes the land route to Malaysia was easier and cheaper (I suspect the same is true of Laos and Cambodia as well).

you may have read that on an outdated website. The difference for entering via air or land borders stopped in 2016. Sadly some Thai embassy/consulate/official websites may still state that old rule. Not many have been updated yet to reflect the new 45 day entry for visa exempt. Some airlines may still insist on a onward ticket within 30 days because they don’t know the rule changes either.

Just coming from Cambodia border visa run : 45 days with extension to another 45.
